About this deal

Question after question, year after year, until I have had to accept that the questions aren’t going away. The Silence Project has countless questions to make you truly wonder about not only yourself but the world around you. Our First Nations communities have the oldest continuing storytelling tradition in the world, and custodianship of the land always was, always will be, theirs. They bring their experiences and travel adventures into their presentations – sharing their own journeys, and encouraging audiences to bring Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness into their everyday lives.

But after falling out with the Community she decides to publish her mothers journals, and her own account of her life with her mother in her own memoirs. The next book to be featured on the Zoe Ball Radio 2 Book Club will be The Silence Project, the exciting and powerful debut novel by Carole Hailey. This was the feminist dystopian novel needed in my life, the mother-daughter relationship is relevant and often hits close to home which makes it even more of an engaging read. When so many elements ring true, it is off-putting to see how society could change like this in a matter of time. Carole’s writing has both a simplicity and a depth to it that is utterly compelling, I’m over the moon to welcome Carole to the Corvus list, and can’t wait to share The Silence Project with readers – you’ll need to clear your schedules for this one, because it really is unputdownable. Today, The Silence Project has blossomed into a varied programme of international exhibitions, seminars and a series of poignant events.

Also there was a very timely and pointed comment about whether it is fair for the prime minister to be someone who hasn't stood in a general election that hit close to the bone! If you don’t believe that cults are real, re-watch the footage of a mob storming the Capitol on the whisper of a man who will not allow himself to be contradicted. I loved going to the library and it was a hugely important place throughout my childhood, which makes the endorsement from The Reading Agency by choosing The Silence Project for the BBC Radio 2 Book Club incredibly special. For me, this half of the book was like a literary pass the parcel of idea explosions; nothing you or I could expect or can/could see coming develops, but I realised that in fact it’s all about perspectives and Carole has honed them, so they are razor sharp in their inception and so divinely subtle, its almost with hindsight I realised all the clues are/were in front of me, plus there are some more positives in Emilia’s life to uncover.
