The opening title card in "Predator Vision" is a real blast as the extra WCG gives the primary-laden heat vision some real pop. Colours are much more vivid, striking, and natural than ever before; skin tones, spaghetti sauce, blood, blue skies, the orange of the Predator ship; there is so much going on now compared to the flat 1080 image. The production is well known to have had problems with plenty of reshoots and the resulting film, though delivering on action and R-rated violence, suffers from unlikeable characters, lamentable dialogue, an inconsistent and incoherent narrative and plot holes galore. The OSD is quite extensive, and although little adjustment is required for a stellar image, some of the options will be unfamiliar to those inexperienced with HDR and wide gamut displays.But it’s not all great; in translation something just gets lost and the film fails to capitalise on the some of its parts, becoming somewhat lost in its ideas and ending up a rather shallow imitation.

Moving the action from the tropical jungle to the urban jungle of Los Angeles is a logical choice, and the biggest change from the original, while setting the film slightly in the future (of 1997) giving the protagonists the time needed to build the weaponry needed to combat the alien.It spawned sequels, spin offs and an ongoing franchise, but, as yet, none can compare to the original. Things only turn for the worse when we realize there is absolutely nothing unique or interesting about these men, who suddenly choose to fight against a completely unknown alien adversary because, you know, reasons. Digitally there are no compression issues, maybe some blink and you miss it banding in some of the torch lighting in the jungle, while the source is pristine. I also like the idea of our main protagonist having the drive, gumption and ethics of a Predator himself, traits needed to showdown an alien.
