About this deal

There is a fantastic film adaptation I used to watch constantly as a kid and this, coupled with movies like The Pagemaster, was an early start to my love of libraries and books.

Soon, she puts her very special talents to work to get the better of Miss Trunchbull and the other unpleasant grown-ups around her - as well as to help warm-hearted class teacher Miss Honey. I come from a county where the dropout rate is high and everyone wants to blame the teachers, but no one identifies the real problem of parents or caregivers not taking an active role in their child's schooling.Following the backlash, on 23February2023, Puffin announced it would release an unedited selection of Dahl's children's books as "The Roald Dahl Classic Collection" because of "the importance of keeping Dahl's classic texts in print.

Matilda - Penguin Books UK

Scary glimpse into my mind, I conciously pronounce it both ways so I'll have a percentage chance of getting it right. In 2003, Matilda was listed at number 74 in The Big Read, a BBC poll of the British public of the top 200 novels of all time.

One of Miss Trunchbull's punishments is to force an overweight child, Bruce Bogtrotter, to eat an enormous chocolate cake, which makes him so full that he cannot move. Her father cheats people out of their money, her mother is downright nasty and her older brother complaisantly watches as she's harassed. Her cruelty and unfair treatment of children at the school leads to some of the most action-packed sections of the story. Matilda (novel) - Wikipedia

When Matilda's friend Lavender plays a practical joke on Trunchbull by placing a newt in her jug of water, Matilda is blamed; in anger, she uses an unexpected power of telekinesis to tip the glass of water containing the newt onto Trunchbull. MATILDA is one of those rare books where I actually think the movie is better, just because of the casting and how the movie adds some chilling scenes (such as when they sneak into Trunchbull's house) and answers some questions that the book really didn't. many of roald dahl's books have hit me hard, for varying reasons: their being the inspiration for a perfect stop-motion film by wes anderson; an uncharacteristic and mild lifelong interest in world war II; an appreciation for large kind men.Roald Dahl wouldn't have starved his kids 'cause he wanted to look hot for book jacket photo shoots. She taught me that it is ok to not be ok, and she taught me to be fierce, brave and do what you must to bring yourself joy, but never at the cost of another person's happiness. The funniest parts are when Miss Trunchbull hurled the kids out of the classroom, and when the newt fell on her. I can learn that must have strength, courage and cool intelligence against her nasty and spiteful adults in my life and ultimately coming out from top. That answer was apparently the right thing to say (probably about the only time I've ever said the right thing either.
