About this deal

Along with their solid fit, the Free 2 offer IPX7 resistance, which means they’re fully waterproof and should happily survive any encounters with rain and sweat. You need active noise cancellation: While the eartips are pretty good at blocking out sound, you’ll need to rivals for true ANC. Our EarFun Air review seems at a pair of earbuds that have up to 7hrs of playback time each bud, 35hrs massive battery life, and an IPX7 water-resistant rating, and more. In fact, I put the EarFun Air earbuds through multiple heavy sweat-inducing workouts, and not only did they work flawlessly, but they also stayed in my ear throughout. Even though I'm a freelancer now, PCMag has been my home for well over a decade, and audio gear reviews are still my primary focus.

If you’re looking for a great pair of ANC true wireless earbuds with excellent sound and all the specifications you could want, there’s not much better in the way of value on the market. I’d had experiences in the past with true wireless earbuds that were either too heavy, too large, or stuck out of my ears too far, any of which made them fall out of my ears when doing anything other than sitting nearly motionless at my desk while working. The buds are quiet as a mouse while on standby / in quiet sections of music, probably the quietest among the handfull of bluetooth earbuds I have at hand. It’s a winner at this budget level, and will doubtless save on the headphones’ battery consumption too. It’s worth noting that the 10mm composite dynamic driver in each earpiece is a switch up from the 6mm composite cellulose driver found in each Earfun Air driver housing, too. And on one occasion, I took off in a dead sprint down the street in front of my house while listening to music, and I don’t think the signal broke up until at least 50 feet. You really want app support: These buds do well without a companion app, but if you prefer a visual cue you won't find it here. Or, if you want cheap earbuds that will get your through a week's worth of commuting, you'll want to look out for long battery lives - think 25 hours and above.

The solution is a good one though; when the case is opened, the light glows green when it has more than 30 per cent battery, orange when it’s below 30 per cent, and red at 10 per cent.

A quick 10 minute charge via USB-C gives back two hours but you won't need to do this too often with 7 hours from the buds keeping things going for a while, with up to 35 hours courtesy of the case. In the image above left, you can see that, when the lid of the case is first opened, the tiny LEDs on the earbuds glow red if they are not paired. Your ears are on the large side: There's every chance these lovely little units might even be toosmall for you.

EarFun Air TWS earbuds review: A pretty decent pair of earbuds

Last but not the least, inside the buds case you will find a button that is used to start the pairing procedure. Additionally, the Earfun Air’s packaging is very protective and also largely made from recyclable cardboard. They're a bit longer and a bit bulky, so it takes a bit more effort to place them in your ear firmly, mostly if you're moving about while doing it.Not that we're huge fans of the rather bulky charging case but fast charging means 10 minutes gives you an extra 2 hours and we're definitely happy with that. Perhaps the only issue I had with the EarFun Air earbuds was that I had some difficulties in learning the touch controls; they can be a bit sensitive with the various taps used to control various features. These wireless earbuds do a pretty good job of offering many of the features you'd see in pricier entries in our list of the best true wireless earbuds.

EarFun Air Review – EarFun TW200 Wireless Earbuds

Setting the sound profile to normal, we cue up a Tidal Master stream of Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On. EarFun touts a maximum range of the EarFun Air earbuds from your phone at 15 meters (about 49 feet) without obstacles and based on my testing, this seems accurate. The sound isolation provided by the EarFun Air is substantially stronger than many average headphones. With an EQ, their initial bass response is able to be boosted as to become a decently capable TWS for EDM and more depth-hungry genres.

When you take the EarFun Air wireless earbuds out, you will see a magnet that holds the buds in place, and towards the below of the charging case, you will see 2 gold connectors, pins that again, charge the buds when attached. But that was before the virtually unknown audio firm released an affordable true wireless headphone proposition that was so good for the money we handed it a What Hi-Fi? Similarly, Hootie and the Blowfish’s Only Wanna Be With You is handled with admirable timing, but the strummed banjo rhythm through the intro isn’t quite as three-dimensional as we might hope, and there’s a small loss of insight at higher frequencies.
