About this deal
Through all this - AT NO TIME could I read a short (or even a high resistance) between the Left and Right pins of the 1/4" plug. I've just spent about six hours trying to work out why (when recording with Reaper) the mix in my headphones was in Mono ...I've installed new ASIO drivers, gone through every setting in Windows 7 and Reaper ...you name it, I've done it! The corresponding models of both product families PRO and Edition are hardly distinguishable in terms of sound, as long as they have the same impedance (e.g. DT 880 Edition / 250 Ohm and DT 880 PRO / 250 Ohm sound the same).
Hey there! I've been lurking here for a while, and recently needed a headphone upgrade. Following the advice of users here as well as what I've found out from my own research, I decided upon the Beyerdynamic DT770 (250ohm version). They just arrived a day ago, and so far so good. Probably some of the comfiest headphones I've ever worn. The PRO range contains classic world-renowned studio headphones that are great for producing, mixing, mastering and other studio tasks. But you really do need to use a high-quality amplifier or audio interface to get the most out of these headphones.
On top of that the comfort and the overall mechanical design was increased and a removable XLR cable was added that can be swapped out depending on what you’re doing. +Which ist the best headphone for mixing and mastering?Currently, these are unamped. My amp should be delivered tomorrow, and I will give it a try and see if this resolves its self. Could this be the cause? From what I've read around here and other places, this shouldn't cause any damage either. First things first, this is not a set of “muddy” headphones, or whatever words people like to use when describing sound they don’t like. You have to power it correctly. If you know that your computer or phone can handle it, the DT 770 PRO can handle pretty much anything you throw at it, but you need to know that they have a very strong emphasis in the highest notes which can get a little grating after a while. This simply means that the emphasis in anything that goes through them tends to favor the highest notes over all else. Lows, mids, and highs For mixing and mastering in the studio, open headphones are often used because of the better spatial representation. Our portfolio includes the DT 880 PRO, the DT 990 PRO, the DT 900 PRO X and the DT 1990 PRO. Finally I removed the 1/4" adaptor and would you believe it, the problem disappeared! ...STILL with a "no short" across the adaptor with the multimeter!
