About this deal

It is in fact pretty much the same thing as your regular white glue such as Elmer’s. Now you may be asking what on Earth you should pay so much for such a small bottle of PVA glue. The answer is that, unlike other glues, this one is guaranteed to dry crystal clear. Most normal PVA glues will not be as clear as the Micro Kristal Klear when they cure. The aim of this series of entries in your SMN Techniques Bank is to help anyone who wants to know more about the different types of glue out there and what they should, and can, be used for. This is especially aimed at any of you who are returning to scale modelling after a long break or perhaps new to the hobby – there is certainly a bewildering choice of products readily available and this entry covers my suggestions and I hope you find it helpful.

That glue is pretty much the same as the Revell/ GW/ModelMasters, just in a glass bottle. The brush is way too big IMHO, and is not the best applicator for small parts.. When working with plastic cement, make sure the room you are in is properly ventilated. Plastic cement fumes can irritate your lungs and cause bad headaches. Some people can also have allergic reactions. This is also true for all super glues. This cement is for use in assembling plastic (styrene) models. It comes is a stable hexagonal bottle 47mm tall. Having exhausted trying to glue with Mr.Hobby Mr.Cement S (as for my it's not glue, it's 💩, but this very good cleaner for panel line when you scribing panel line! 💡) Like its earlier counter part, it stinks to high heaven due to the solvent levels. Prolonged use does give headaches so that has to be factored in when using it.

B.w. the irritating odor in Tamiya glue creates acetone, because butyl acetate smells like pear, and has the colloquial name "pear essence". The difference is only in the proportion of components for the glue 50% to 50% for the cleaner 49% to 51% (as far as I can remember, but I may be wrong - the memory can malfunction), as for me 1% is not a very big difference. I think we've got our wires crossed. I have the extra thin. What I want to know is if the normal Tamiya cement, i.e. this:

Best Glue For Plastic Models - Guide and Reviews - Spring 2022

Tamiya EXTRA THIN model cement is used to glue together plastic model kits that use polystyrene plastic. No crevice is too small for this flowing adhesive, which was ...But the problem is that my local hobby-shop does not have a cleaner either, but the factory and the household market have chemical components for making this glue myself. and Mr. Hobby Mr.Cement something with the help, I took this advice ...in results, now I have 1 liter "Tamiya Extra Thin Cement" my own manufacturing! 😉 😁 😎 Almost all plastic model kits require you to glue the parts of the kit together. The only exceptions are the snap-fit kits and even those can be glued to achieve a much better overall look.

I prefer the green one. It's much thinner, has a fine brush too and a much shorter hardening time. Once hardened the bond is very strong indeed. I also use it as a thinner for Tamiya putty; both before I apply it, and after to smoth things out. This combination makes a very good filling.

Sub-Categories for Tamiya Glues

There’s a built-in brush in the cap which is extremely useful as you don’t have to use your brushes. The tip of the brush is nicely pointed allowing you to reach even the tightest spots.

The cement should not be used to flood the plastic parts because it will take ages for them completely dry. For example, if you use too much glue to join the fuselage halves of an aircraft kit, you will often have to wait days before you can start sanding down the joint. If you start sanding and paining too soon a small ridge-like depression may form at the location of the joint. This is often called a ghost seam line. The sensitive reaction is dermatic allergy. If you not use it, then the problem is gone. It's not a big deal, not dangerous to. If you are allergic to it, you will notice it easily. You will feel a burn sensation.I don't recall when I read the tip (may have been here on BM) but Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner is almost the exact same formula as Tamiya Extra Thin. I gave it a try and Airbrush Cleaner glues styrene just fine. I found out the hardware store here sells MEK (but in 3.5 litre tin) so I am going to get it, mix with the Acetone I have lying around the house. Roll forward 30 years, and as I was looking for model kits for my kids, I saw Tamiya liquid model cement in a 40ml bottle with Limonene added. It is marketed as non toxic, safe to use, and still strong bonding. As I have used Tamiya extra thin cement for some time, and liked the product, I decided to try a bottle of this cement to see if it would be safe for the kids to use. As no strange, but the most difficult thing here is to buy acetone, good industrial quality .... with butyl acetate, it was more of a problem to find a convenient suitable glass container with a capacity of one liter, because where I bought butyl acetate, they sell it from one liter. When I was a kid I remember at one time the only cement in the local drug store was a tube of "non-toxic, odor free cement". The clerk told me it had an ingredient called Limonene that kept kids from getting high. Later I learned that it was added to remove the irritation caused by the odor of the chemicals in the glue, with the added benefit that it did supposedly keep abusers from getting any unintended benefit from the glue. All I remember is that wherever I tried to apply the glue, I ended up with a mess of spider web strings, and the glue really didn't work that well.
