This mild-mannered, more mature Talisker, is elegant, scented but with plenty of personality and unmistakable character. You are responsible for all activities through your account. The info on the DEs, if anything, is better than a simple age statement (distilled in/bottled in dates giving you both the age and the era/vintage of the product), but most of those who aren’t fussy about age statements aren’t usually holding out for better age info as opposed to simply embracing no age info (and/or confusing it with multivintaging) – producers included. Welcome!

Talisker 10 was one of those releases which just never left me after the first taste; I found myself craving its the distinctive flavor profile. In mixed company, the dram can be overpowered by more heavily peated single malts such as Laphroaig or Lagavulin. It would be a mistake to view the release as a lesser version of an Islay malt, however. Talisker has a unique identity which sets it apart as much as being the only distillery on Skye does. The price for a bottle is very reasonable, and paired with its quality, makes this release a must-have for my own collection. Score: 90/100 [ SHOP FOR A BOTTLE OF TALISKER 10] Tasting Notes: Talisker Distiller’s Edition Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). The first sip flows gently over the tongue, the "Chili-Catch" known for Talikser suddenly explodes on the tongue and lines the palate with white pepper and cozy warmth. Almost at the same time, the saliva begins to flow massively ... Earthy, slightly peaty with hints of wooden smoke, dark and tart wood tones, dark chocolate with oranges, hazelnuts and walnuts alternate, meanwhile the Talisker DE warms the esophagus and stomach. Wonderful multi-layered and balanced single malt. Great value for money, a favorite as standard in the home bar.

A very different Talisker expression, but I like it a lot. Great sweetness from the sherry adds something new to the peppery, peaty dram we know. Good stuff. Talisker is well balanced by the finishing cask. You feel the underlying 10-year whisky rise in the palate only to be tempered by the sweetness of the sherry. Despite being a younger whisky by Scotch standards it is balanced nicely by the Amoroso. I will say Amoroso doesn’t necessarily compliment the Talisker here, it really provides guardrails and mutes the harsher notes of the Scotch. Talisker 1984/2021 (51.9%, OB, Prima & Ultima Third Release, hogsheads and sherry butt, 2022) - 210622 Talisker 1998/2017 (56.6%, OB for Keepers Of The Quaich, cask #6829, refill sherry butt, 618 bottles) - by Angus - 040420 One of my favorite characteristics of Talisker is how punchy it is, and 57° North comes out swinging. With this non-age-statement release, it is more than simply the higher alcohol content that is intriguing. I found the flavor profile to be a further enhanced and amplified take on the Talisker 10 model. While there are some subtleties that get steamrolled in the process, this is a single malt that is just simply a load of fun. Score: 91/100 [ SHOP FOR A BOTTLE OF TALISKER 57° NORTH]The DEs (or least the only ones I’ve ever paid attention to, the Talisker and the Lagavulin) both have creation myths of being pretty much the standard bottle (so the 10 or the 16, respectively) with an extra ~1 year of age. Talisker Bottler Distillery Bottling Bottling serie The Distillers Edition Vintage 2006 Bottled 2016 Casktype Double Matured in Amoroso Sherry Wood Casknumber TD-S: 5SE Strength 45.8 % Vol. Size 700 ml 750 ml Barcode 5000281013985 Added on 25 sep 2016 7:29 pm by cs Palate: Talisker’s signature briny peat hits the tongue first, evoking seaspray and driftwood campfires, and the taste of dried saltwater on your lips. This is immediately followed by a wave of jammy sherry, nougat, and grilled fruit (are grilled plums a thing?). Mild peat smoke with fresh and sour grapefruits, green olives and milk chocolate. Some honey and flowers. Not as sweet as expected from the Amoroso finish. Palate: Fruits, Vanilla and Dark Cocoa chocolate. Some more smoke but not as strong as it is on the nose.
