About this deal

Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments Education Shed Ltd, Severn House, Severn Bridge, Riverside North, Bewdley, Worcestershire, UK, DY12 1AB It's a sad story at first but it turns out well for Omar and the book has some funny bits that made me laugh. Planet Omar has all of the everyday life family drama and silly humour of Tom Gates and Sam Wu, and it's wonderful to read a funny book for kids featuring a Muslim family. At the heart of this amusing diary-style novel is the story of Yusuf - a little boy who is sad that his beloved big sister is leaving home, perhaps especially so because Affa has been his closest support in a single parent household. Readable, relatable and accessible to all.

Wildly imaginative Omar’s free-association narrative, laced with expressive hand lettering and Mafaridik’s playfully exaggerated line art, remains chipper and uplifting.”– Publishers Weekly

Zanib Mian fell in love with writing at primary school. After studying molecular cell biology at University College London, she taught science in secondary school before deciding to move into children’s publishing. Zanib felt that characters from all minorities were missing from books for young children and launched Sweet Apple Publishers with a clear commitment to publishing inclusive books. Muslim British Pakistani Omar is an elementary aged boy with a huge imagination. As the middle child with a bossy older sister, Mayram, and a messy three-year old brother, Esa, Omar stands out because of his imaginative ideas and daydreams which sometimes gets him into trouble, but also helps him deal with his worries. With his family moving to a new home in London, Omar has been worrying a lot. Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet by Zanib Mian is a hilariously fun storybook for KS2 children.

Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet - Penguin Random House

Almost everyone gets bullied at some point in their life–so if this is happening to your child, they are not alone. Previously published as 'The Muslims', this was the winner of the Little Rebels Award in June 2018. The text has been revised, expanded with new scenes and re-illustrated. About This Edition ISBN: Young readers will have great fun on planet Omar! Our hero's tales of everyday life with his family and at school will keep everyone amused. Omar is worried because the family have just moved house - will he make friends at school? He does of course, but Daniel the school bully seems to have it in for him. A school trip to the Science Museum sees the two of them lost in London, but Omar knows just what to do and in the process realises that maybe he'd got Daniel wrong. The real pleasure of this book is Omar - his imagination, the pleasure he finds in ordinary things, his infectious zest for life make this irresistible reading. The book also offers insight into the life of an ordinary Muslim family, something we don't often get, and indeed, Zanib Mian has said that she wrote the book to counter negative stereotypes of Muslims. It's another reason to recommend this book, and I'm already looking forward to a new story and a return to Planet Omar.

Planet Omar is about a boy called Omar and his life. He moves house and then he moves school. He is afraid of the new school and he makes a new friend but there's a mean bully in his class. Omar is a Muslim and I really liked learning all about Muslim things because it was really interesting and sounded fun. This book was really interesting and Omar was funny. I loved that he had a brilliant imagination and his imaginary dragon called H2O! The best bit was the party for Eid and I liked that Omar was so excited! The different writing and the pictures made the book fun to read. I think everyone would like reading this book....
