We're more than a market town on the edge of the Lakes. There's always something to do in Kendal - whatever the weather. Winery; partners Harry and Stacey are bringing winemaking to the North. They are making minimal intervention wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus. The grapes are sourced from some really special vineyards in Essex and naturally fermented right here in Kendal. STAFF OF LIFE BAKERY How the traditional recipe came about is a bit of a mystery, although legend says it came from a batch of peppermint creams that ‘went wrong’. When the mixture was left overnight, it solidified into a solid bar of powerful peppermint and Kendal Mint Cake was born. Kendal Mint Cake is also an important part of our heritage.
