The portable ballpoint pen pairs the Kaweco’s octagonal shape with a retractable mechanism. The pre-installed refill contains blue ink. While it’s perfectly serviceable, we recommend substituting it with a higher quality D1 size refill for a smoother and more consistent writing experience. The 'raw' brass finish has no lacquer to wear off. Instead, the bare metal, like the pen's owner, will reflect the trials, tribulations and joys of a lifetime's work and play, with with the surface mellowing over time to a fine burnished patina unique to it's history.It isn't necessary to apply silicone grease to the colored AL Sports, as the anodized aluminum is more resistant to galling.
