On the nose, rich notes of velvet caramel and tamarind are balanced with light and floral tones of toasted coconut and violet. As whiskey ages a part of it is said to evaporate to the Angels - this is known as the Angel Share. It’s the easiest and most flexible of the spirits and as such it allows anyone to create a delicious drink that will amaze and delight their friends. Really surprised by this, given the price. It’s that rarest of things – a spirit I can drink neat. It’s got far less burn than many much more expensive rums. It’s fairly simple and a little dilute, but it’s not a nice milk chocolate and banana character and is very smooth.

A blend of 5, 8 and 12 year finely aged 100% column still rums from Barbados. Rich, indulgent flavour notes are balanced out with lighter, more chocolatey-sour ones as the younger and older rums react to each other.This aged white rum is a blend of cask rums from Barbados, Australia, Trinidad and Jamaica and range from unaged to eight years old. It’s then blended with Dartmoor water before being filtered through carbon to remove most of the colour, leaving a white rum. Sourced from two of the most prestigious distilleries in the world. Our blend contains a 3-year old 100% Pot Still rum from the Worthy Park Distillery in Jamaica combined with a 5-year old 100% Column Still rum from the Foursquare Distillery in Barbados both aged in oak barrels. Our aromatic aged golden rum is naturally spiced with ginger, vanilla, cola, grapefruit, pineapple, clove, nutmeg, basil and orange. The immediate hit on the nose is fruit — mostly bananas — which gives a hint of sweetness to the aroma. On the palate, the fruit continues, with some pineapple joining the mix before a nutty note comes through. There is a good depth of flavour to the rum before a long, creamy finish. It’s National Rum Day on 16 August, so with that in mind, we thought it was only fitting to share some of our favourite rums with you.
