Of the perfumes’ creation, Morillas says, “Both fragrances are for me like paintings of nature. They depict wilderness and the preserved landscape of English seashores. I am a very visual person; I imagined the fragrances like spontaneous It turned out to be a ‘no brainer’ sweet scent that seemed modern yet different that I could wear in every season and virtually every occasion. Yes, it does remind me of milky tea with lots of brown sugar and a posy of tropical florals with tender green shoots draped beside my tea cup. It is just so easy for me to wear. Equinox Bloom is kind of an oddball to be honest, similar to the effect of Penhaligon's other creation, Amaranthine (which I am forever missing!!) with its mixture of really sweet gourmand + floral + milky elements. I can see how this might be almost gross but I find it addicting. Price: Penhaligon’s fragrances are known for their luxury and quality, which is reflected in their higher price point. Fragrance Notes: Penhaligon’s The Favourite features notes like green violet leaf, narcissus flower, rose, powdery orris, powdery amber, vanilla, and musk. It’s a sophisticated and floral fragrance with powdery and creamy undertones.

From a wearer's perspective this is an interesting creation. I feel it's similar to Ostara in the fact that is is a fragrance of stages. Not all are enjoyable yet you have to experience each to get to the next. There is no doubt that Blasted Heath is a masculine fragrance. The scent pyramid consists of salty seaweed, well-aged whiskey, spicy sage, green patchouli, cedar and gaiac wood. Being an aquatic, this fragrance won't appeal to everyone, but in its genre it is what I would consider very pleasant.To accompany the launch of Blasted Bloom and Blasted Heath, Penhaligons have commissioned media group Cereal to make a film. The elemental Blasted is the Kiki Smith inspired result. Remember that each fragrance has its own unique characteristics, and while these alternatives may share some similarities with Penhaligon’s The Favourite, they won’t be exact replicas. It does just that, it delivers exactly that fresh calone bittersweet salt note, the type of smell left in your nose after being tumbled in the water whilst surfing.

Slightly similar to sailing day but more aromatic and way stronger. As opening marine overdose softens, then the fragrance becomes much better, balanced. But then again, this fragrance smells amazing right off the first spray "in air", and outside. You only get the challenging notes when smelling up close. Smelling these perfumes makes me REALLY afraid to try the current version of my favorite Penhaligon's fragrance: Hammam Bouquet. Much of Penhaligon's line is very 'prim and proper'. Equinox Bloom steers away from the usual conservative soliflores this house is known for and experiments with a heavy dose of brown sugar. This fragrance smells like white vanilla frosting on my skin. I find its sweetness oddly appealing and somewhat refreshing.

Perhaps Penhaligon's is just waaaay late to the Clean Party. Blasted Heath As for other competitor "marine-only" scents, I think Blasted Heath is a very good choice, but not the easiest one to wear. Before making any decisions I suggest to try Reminiscence Rem, LO Salina, Aqva di Sale and Aqua Motu.Yves Rocher Quelques Notes d’Amour L’Eau de Parfum” is an affordable fragrance that shares some similarities with The Favourite. It features notes like damask rose, iris, and guaiac wood. While not an exact dupe, it offers a romantic and powdery floral experience. About Fragrancedirect The guaiac wood and an atypical patchouli (that's pretty close to the vetiver type used here) are what I observe FAR more strongly than the voting indicates, and along with the clary sage challenge the combo of dewey "greens" and seaweed for overall dominance in my brain. The guaiac & clary sage are VERY strong after the open and mostly what I notice through the mid, then the patchouli/vetiver combo comes in getting heavier when the rest begin to fade. Once noticed, those grassy woods stay the dominant smell through the end, or at least MY end as I've never kept Blasted Heath on long enough to ever GET to its end! For the "Stronger-for-Longer" fragrance generation this should be on their test list when looking for a high-quality marine scent.
