About this deal

You could probably use any combination of cotton yarn from sport to DK to aran to bulky but I’d just recommend that you hold at least 2 strands of yarn and adjust how many rounds your crochet to match the measurements of the coaster. This is the key to achieving the sturdy, macramé look or else the coaster will be a bit floppy and more like a doily. To finish the spiral, in the final round, stop 2 sts before the SM. Sl st into the next 5 sts and fasten off.

Add a little charm to your coffee table with this beginner-friendly free crochet pattern. Made in the round using only one stitch.Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first double crochet), 11 dc in the 3rd chain from hook. Do not slip stitch. (12 sts) I always recommend cotton yarn for coasters because acrylic yarn can melt when heat is applied to it. So it’s always best to go with natural fiber for kitchen crochet projects. hdc – half double crochet: Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull through, yarn over and pull through last three loops on hook. The spiral is worked in continuous rounds with a stitch marker indicating the 1st st of the round. At the end of a round, do NOT slip stitch into the 1st st to join.

Round 2: 1 dc in the first stitch of the previous round, place stitch marker. Make 1 more dc in the same stitch. Continue with making 2 dc in every stitch till the end of round. (24 sts) Round 3: 1 dc in the next stitch (stitch where stitch marker is placed), 2 dc in the next sts. *1 dc in the next stitch, 2 dc in the next sts. Repeat from * till the end of the round. Do not slip stitch. (36 sts) All you have to do for this boho crochet coaster project is cut a 4-inch piece of yarn and fold it in half. Insert your hook and yarn into the stitch. Pull through the stitch, remove your hook, and pull the loose ends through the loop. This crochet coaster is made from a spiral, that is levelled off and then fringe is added around the edges. This crochet coaster pattern is so easy to customise and great for beginners! Simply extend the spiral to make the coaster as large or as small as you want. You could crochet boho place mats, hot pads, table mats, use it as a flower vase base mat – the options are endless! I might have gone a little crazy and made a huge range of these in a range of different sizes. One great thing about this crochet coaster pattern is that you don’t need a lot of yarn. You only need about 25 yards of yarn to make one crochet coaster. It’s the perfect scrap yarn project! ROUND 6: *SC 4, 2SC; rep from * until end. For ROUND 7: rep *2SC, SC 5; until end. For ROUND 8: rep *SC 6, 2SC; until end. For ROUND 9: rep *2SC, SC 7; until end etc. You can either leave your fringe as is or unravel the fringe. To unravel the fringe, split the strands of yarn apart with your fingers or use a fine-tooth comb and run it through the strands of yarn to separate them.
