Ultime ist für mich eher ein Freizeitduft. Während L'Homme einer der besten Büro- und Arbeitsdüfte ist, ist dieser für mich eher ein Freizeitduft an wärmeren Tagen. Der kommt auch wirklich gut für die Abendsonne, wenn die Hitze sich aus dem Staub gemacht hat. The perfumers behind this fragrance wanted to create a fresh scent that would be both delicate and full of power. Er startet sehr erfrischend durch die Grapefruit, mehr fruchtig-weich denn zitrisch-herb, und dabei leicht befeuert durch den Kardamom. Nach ca. 15 Minuten gesellt sich eine feine, dezente Blumigkeit hinzu, sodass der Ultime jetzt ein wenig floraler, lieblicher wirkt, wenngleich auch weiterhin fruchtig und spitz angewürzt. Auffällig ist, dass dieser Gegensatz von frischer Frucht-Blumigkeit und würziger Schärfe stets differenziert, d.h. einzeln wahrnehmbar ist. Genau das macht ihn so attraktiv für mich und schafft eine hohe Transparenz im Duft, die ihm auch eine gewisse Leichtigkeit beschert. Dabei ist er sehr ausgewogen, denn die beiden konträren Richtungen halten sich in etwa die Waage, was eine nahezu edle Aura schafft, auch unterstützt von der Zeder, die permanent etwas Rauchiges beisteuert. Faszinierend gemacht! Und nach ca. 2,5 Stunden kommt noch ein leicht säuerliches Vetiver hinzu und setzt einen weiteren Kontrapunkt. So steht der Duft für eine konstant anziehende Wirkung ... und das ziemlich ausdauernd (hält auf Kleidung ca. 7 bis 8 Stunden). These smells use similar notes to L’Homme Ultime and can be used either to layer at the same time or even to replace the YSL version. L’Ultime is presented in a clear bottle that highlights the loveliness of the pale blue liquid inside.

Zur Basis hin kommt dann die zweite, noch angenehmere Überraschung: Wer L´Humaniste kennt, erkennt auch hier diese markante Gin-Note. Hiermit will ich jetzt nicht sagen, das sei ein Duftzwilling; dazu fehlt dem Ultime die Tiefe und das einzigartige, facettenreiche Wacholder-Erlebnis, aber: nichtsdestotrotz hat er diesen schroffen, genialen Gin-Akkord und hebt sich damit wesentlich von den anderen Ablegern ab. Das hellblau des Ultime und das Saphirblau des Bombay Sapphire Gin, kam mir sofort in den Sinn: Mit das Beste, was es derzeit im Mainstream-Segment gibt und auch einer der besten Supermarkt-Gins. Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Ultime (2016) was poised as an "ultimate" version of the original YSL L'Homme (2006) composed a decade prior, and as an atypical flanker seeking to improve the original rather than supplement it, I'd say it was a pretty mixed bag that resulted in failure and discontinuation. In some ways, I do like it better because it has a nice "clean rose" that wasn't in the first version, but in other ways I find Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Ultime to really be more of a supplement than it cares to admit, much like it's brethren since something is lost in translation by stapling rose onto the original L'Homme DNA and adding in a different base material to the equation. The original perfumers Dominique Ropion and Ann Flipo return, but Peter Wargnye sits this one out and is replaced with Juliette Karagueuzoglo, who has also worked on various other L'Homme flankers. L'Homme Ultime didn't set the world on fire any more than the original, but for fans of that rarest of categories known as the masculine floral, this might be the closest one finds within the L'Homme range. As a fan of rose, this stuff barely meets muster to me in that department, but is so nice overall that I can overlook it.You may have smelled some of these familiar colognes before, and it’s always a good choice to revisit them. 1. In 2022, Yves Saint Laurent announces L’Homme Eau de Parfum, and thus brings another variation of the 2006 L’Homme fragrance. The intensity of the fragrance is in full power through its top notes for about an hour, especially the ginger, and then gives way to the masculine rose scent that will continue lingering on your skin along with the wood notes. Sprüht man L'Homme Ultime zum ersten Mal auf, ist sofort eine attraktive Präsenz wahrnehmbar, die ihren Träger unmittelbar in den Bann zieht. Denn der Duft jongliert mit zwei konträren Attributen, die mir besonders zusagen: fruchtige (leicht blumige) Frische auf der einen, und rauchig pfeffrige Würze auf der anderen Seite:The fragrance opens with a burst of spicy citrus through bergamot, grapefruit, ginger, and cardamom. Be that as it may, after months of indecision, the YSL Ultime was finally allowed to move in with me. And that he could develop to the top of my collection, is probably due to several properties that are unique to me in this combination: It manages to be extremely balanced despite ambivalent fragrance notes, combines mild floral fruit with subtle smoky spice and clear vetiver, is feather-light and transparent, relatively linear in the scent progression, and that up to 8 hours with good sillage. It is never intrusive, fits almost every occasion and season and can probably be worn at any age. What more could you want? You can also wear it at the gym, at casual or formal events, and as the perfect bouquet on your next holiday. Einen richtigen zitrischen L'Homme, geschweige denn einen der mir gefällt, gab es bisher noch nicht... Bisher. Denn Ultime ist ein feines Ding geworden & eines der Highlights diesen Frühling - egal ob Mainstream oder Nische. Ein Bitchslap für alle Kritiker der Flankerpolitik. Aber wie sagt man so schön: Ausnahmen bestätigen die Regel. Die nächsten drei "L'Hommes" werden bestimmt wieder überflüssig bis müllig. Wer weiß. Hoffentlich. Für uns voreiligen Kritiker ;) Kurzes Review, denn in einem Statement kann ich auch nicht alles sagen, dazu hat der mich zu positiv überrascht.
