About this deal

There are the Forestry Commission area and the non-forestry Commission area which is right by the lake. Wonderful spot, but it is exposed to the elements. Best wild camping spots on the NC500 Applecross (IV54 8XT, Strathcarron) So I stayed put and it paid off, there was lovely stuff with mothers and their pups. And then amazing full-on drama with battling bulls."

We’ve driven to stops with only 1 review and no photos, and most times they never turn out to be usable! The hills of the Highlands are the starting point of many of Scotland’s great rivers and here a pair of dippers are hard at work building a nest. These industrious birds are nesting earlier than ever before in response to a warming climate. Having filmed across the whole of Scotland, Maramedia noted many changes in the fauna and flora they worked with. Some underwater habitats had noticeably deteriorated since the filming of the company’s Hebrides series filmed in 2011. But other species such as ospreys, red kites and beavers have become commoner and more widespread. Pine Martens have also increased and are doing well right across the nation. There is room for 5-10 vans, but because this place is popular with locals for dog walking, I would recommend leaving early in the morning so you aren’t taking up valuable parking space for them. Wild camping in Scotland will allow you the opportunity to stay in some extremely beautiful locations.

The hills and glens of the Highlands define Scotland for the world. Dominated by hills, glens, lochs, rivers and forests, it’s a landscape that’s been heavily altered by people and climate. Once a great forest covered much of this land, but now little remains. In the central highlands lie the Cairngorms, a vast plateau where Scotland’s greatest Arctic alpine environment can be found and home to Scotland’s only free-roaming reindeer herd. For thousands of years reindeer roamed these hills but were eventually lost due to hunting and climate pressures. But in the 1960s this herd was reintroduced. By the middle of Spring, they’re joined on the high tops by a true Highland specialist, the dotterel. These trusting little birds return here from North Africa to breed, flitting around the melting snow patches in search of food. They’ve been in huge decline in recent years as climate pressure takes its toll on this small population on the southern edge of its breeding range. For the very first time their breeding behaviour is captured on camera. Fergus says: "Honestly normally I’d be delighted to see one pine-marten out in the day, but in this instance when the mum turned up on her own, I was a bit peeved with her, saying to myself 'C’mon, where’s the kits?'" If you are on a country … those people will be feeling the heat more but they go somewhere where there's water. Mr Wilders will need to form a coalition that occupies at least 76 seats in the 150-seat parliament to have a majority and govern the country. There are toilets here too and there is even a restaurant just a 5-minute walk down the road which serves delicious food!

That means taking your rubbish with you, your belongings, and ensuring you don’t ruin the environment you’re staying at. Why should you wild camp in Scotland?

The series has been produced for BBC Scotland by Glasgow based Maramedia in co-production with Terra Mater Studios, Skyland Productions and Doclights/NDR Naturfilm. Other series Maramedia has made for BBC Scotland include the award-winning Highlands : Scotland’s Wild Heart, Stormborn , Wild Shetland and Hebrides: Islands on the Edge. You can almost camp anywhere you desire, but when you have a vehicle, you’ve got to be more strategic and respectful. The Scotland wild camping laws don't extend to motorized vehicle's, and you can find out more here. This was another of my favourite wild camping spots in Scotland, simply because we were parked right next to Braemar Castle which is not only a really cool castle in the daylight, but it’s lit up at night so it looks brilliant!Making wildlife programmes in Scotland is as about as good as it gets," according to wildlife cameraman Fergus Gill, whose credits include Maramedia’s Stormborn and Shetland – Scotland’s Viking Frontier.

We didn’t end up staying overnight here, we just stopped for the facilities, but I think it’s a great spot so worth mentioning. The local Stagecoach bus number 39/M39 service coming from Carrbridge/Aviemore or Newtonmore stops at the bottom of our entrance road – you will then have a walk of around half a mile to our pay kiosks. Our stop is between Kincraig and Kingussie. Mr Solih, who served five years as president from 2018 as the leader of the Maldivian Democratic Party, had operated with an India-first policy. But it has also emerged at the centre of a strategic battle between regional superpowers, India and China. Mr Wilders' rode a wave of anti-immigration sentiment, blaming a housing shortage on flows of asylum seekers and drawing on widespread concerns about the cost of living and the overburdened healthcare system.

In the town of Braemar you have public toilets, and lots of cute coffee shops, but I recommend you head to “The Wee Bothy” for a morning drink! Balmoral Castle If you stay in the Forestry Commission area, you’ll pay a small fee overnight there, but if you can get one of the spaces just outside of that, then you can stay for free. With more than 1,000 islands, Maldives is renowned for its white beaches, sun-drenched atolls and high-end resorts, sitting on the equator in the Indian Ocean, south-west of Sri Lanka.
