I sincerely believe that there are some people at the top of the media industry who make extraordinary wealth, while the people who write the scripts, news or criticism, those who do a lot of the technical work like editing etc., work long hours for scale or as piecework. Making much of the work gig based on top of that seems to baked-in. Bonus: TOS “Balance of Terror”– In a surprise bonus (as it wasn’t listed on any press release), CBS has included the 2006 remastered version of the classic Star Trek episode “Balance of Terror.” This is a fitting extra, of course, as episode 110 (“A Quality of Mercy”) relies heavily on the events and even dialogue from the original episode. I’m also regretting the amount of unattributed work they did before contracts gave us the walls of credits. As we know from the intensive historical digging on Star Trek, not everything was attributed and it was a pervasive phenomenon.

Coming May 16, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 will be arriving in a special 4K Blu-ray Steelbook edition, which will contain all 10 episodes of 2022’s adventures in the Ultra HD format. The 4K Steelbook will not contain standard Blu-ray discs, so if you’re looking to acquire both formats, you’ll need to shop twice. Finally, to compare with the season-ending “A Quality of Mercy,” CBS Home Entertainment has included an extra bonus feature not previously announced: a full copy of “Balance of Terror,” the classic Star Trek episode which inspired the episode.

I’m not saying it can’t work, just that you are making a sacrifice. Roger Deakins shot SKYFALL on Alexa even though he knew there’d be a 4K finish. But that’s Deakins. He also told me he refused to use the Imax codec for that particlar release version, so there’s something to be said for individual taste over a massmind solution.
