There are three main types of showerheads: fixed, handheld, and dual (a combination of fixed and handheld). Fixed showerheads are mounted to the wall, while handheld showerheads are connected to the wall via a flexible hose. Handheld or dual showerheads are particularly useful for pets, kids, and anyone with limited mobility. Three months in, the SparkPod Shower Head looks and functions as well as it did during our initial round of testing. The water pressure is still just as impressive, and because of the dark bronze color we opted to try, the minimal water spots that have appeared are barely noticeable. At this point, the nozzles don’t have much grime or clogs at all. Most showers and shower heads use a standard half-inch pipe and fittings, so you can mix and match hoses and heads from different manufacturers. If you’re upgrading your head, however, think about whether you need to upgrade the hose at the same time: if it’s worn or leaking, it could be part of the problem. Can a new shower head help with low water pressure? Either way, they all work to provide you with an excellent and relaxing experience. Finding the perfect model isn’t always an easy task, but it is one that we are here to lend you a hand with. In terms of performance, we found that this showerhead held up exceptionally well, with a consistent and even water flow. However, the spray area isn’t particularly wide, which can be an issue for those who prefer more of a rainfall effect. But with six different spray patterns, we still found that the product is highly effective and customizable to your liking. The trade-off is usually quite a narrow spray radius. However, since there are generally multiple spray patterns to choose from, you can start your shower with a wider, gentler spray, then switch to a more forceful pattern for intensive cleaning.

In addition to the basics, modern shower heads may offer extra features such as a built-in Bluetooth speaker or LED lighting. These aren’t always practical for a handheld shower, though, and they’re no substitute for an effective spray pattern. On that note, if a shower offers you ten different patterns, ask yourself how many you’re actually likely to use: most of us rarely need more than one or two patterns.
