About this deal

The N’Zon is probably the perfect feeder rod for the vast majority of anglers. It’s lightweight, simple, and affordable. The N’Zon comes in several sizes and specifications, ranging from 9-14 feet with various casting weights. The smaller rods are better suited to short-range fishing while the longer rods will be ideal for bigger bodies of water. Parabolic Action: A rod that can bend throughout its length but stiffens towards its butt section, providing a controlled cushioning action when playing a fish. NOT so long ago – only last November, in fact – I ran the rule over one of Preston Innovations’ affordable new Ignition Feeder rods. Best Method Feeder Rod - Preston Innovations Monster X 11ft Carp Feeder - View offer on Fishing Republic A medium feeder rod isn't determined by its length. Rather, it's a tool that will cast modest distances for average-sized fish, with feeders around the 40-60g range. It's the best rod when bream, skimmers or smallish match-sized carp are the target, as they generally have a much more forgiving action. This helps reduce fish bumping off on the retrieve whilst allowing for easier casting at shorter ranges where a more powerful rod can cause issues with accuracy.

Reel Seat: The part of the handle that your reel attaches to. Almost all UK coarse rods have screw-down reel seats, where the fore-grip on the handle rotates and closes the seat to hold the reel in place. If you generally fish in the same venue or a handful of venues and you know what sort of distances you'll be fishing, then try to get a rod to match the style of angling you do. If you only need to cast 40m, a rod that will cast 90m is almost useless to you as the extra power will make it cumbersome to use at the shorter distances and may lead to hook pulls. A shorter, softer rod of around 10-11ft would be ideal, if you do fish venues, you need the extra distance, then go for a rod 11-12ft with an increased casting weight.Like all of Daiwa’s rods, the tournament SLR is well-built. The real discretion between the SLR and a cheaper alternative is the materials used. The rod is made completely from industry-leading materials with a strong focus on making a rod that casts brilliantly. Fishing for F1s could almost be a branch of the sport all on its own, thanks to the unique skills required to catch them. With the Ignition, Preston decided to toughen up the quiver tips and fine-tune the nature of the rod so that it is perfect for reading bites and playing fish. With an excellent progressive action, the Ignition feeder rods handle fish of most sizes incredibly well, whether there’s a bream or a big brute of a carp at the end of your line, the Ignition range has got you covered. Be it float or feeder, an F1 rod needs to be as soft and as forgiving as possible, to absorb the weighty lunges of a hard fighting fish that just doesn’t know when it is beaten.

There’s no doubt that this rod is an excellent feeder but it wouldn’t be our first recommendation to new anglers. Its a bit more pricey than some of the other rods and although it compensates through its incredible technology and features, its something that we feel a lot of anglers may not use. Casting Weight: 40g – Transport Length: 155cm – Weight: 169g – Handle Length: 54cm – Line rating: 4-10lb – Sections: 2 The PrestonIgnition Carp Feeder Fishing Rod is an affordable and high-quality rod that comes from a comprehensive range of fishing rods perfect for any commercial fishing or natural waters. With seamless actions, these are an unbeatable value! The Preston Ignition Carp Feeder Fishing Rods are perfect for underarms a method feeder in the margin. Each rod is supplied with two carbon tips, 1oz- 2 oz! The tip should not only match the species and type of bite you are expecting but, more importantly, the tow and movement on the water. Selecting too light a tip will see it bend round too much due to the flow of water pulling on the line, making seeing bites difficult. Too stiff a tip will see fish dropping the bait due to the extra resistance, and shy bites hard to see. This is why most feeder rods come with several different rated quiver tips. However, since the rod is nearly entirely made from rare materials, it is incredibly expensive. Costing several hundred pounds makes the Tournament SLR difficult to recommend to most people. It is undoubtedly and phenomenal rod and arguably the best feeder rod in production. However, it costs a lot of money, and unless you’re a serious match fisherman who’s trying a gain a competitive edge or someone who simply wants the best rod available, its difficult to justify the price. Fighting/General Usage

If your venue is full of smaller carp, then a medium feeder rod around the 11ft mark with a more powerful action would be a good choice as you will predominantly be using method style feeders, which comes with lots of casting and hopefully lots of rod bending, so you need a rod that capable of taking some punishment. Similarly, if you're fishing for silverfish on a short line of around 20-40m, an 11ft-12ft would be a great choice, but this time, you want to look for a rod with a more forgiving action. The best medium feeder rods at a glance: We’re not going to bore you but rambling on about how good the finish on the rod is, Drennan is infamous for its feeder rods and builds quality and the red range rods certainly live up to that expectation. The rod feels great, it performs great, it’s built very solidly and apart from that, there isn’t much else to say. Fighting/General usage When it comes to choosing a medium feeder rod, there are a few things to consider. Fish won't usually hook themselves with a traditional feeder set-up, so you'll need to watch the tip to spot and hit bites. A 1oz rated tip is great for calm conditions, while 2oz-3oz might be used in wind, tow, or on a river. The more tips the rod comes with, the more versatile it'll be. The taper of the tips is important too. Soft tips which bend right through offer little resistance to shy-biting fish, but faster taper tips show up tiny tentative bites better and allow you to cast harder and further.
