According to the transcripts from Once Upon a Galaxy, the shooting script as written offered no dialogue to clear this up. Nor did it really explain why Han, Leia, or Chewie were there at all. Kershner explained the issue to Harrison Ford as follows: "You see Harrison, one thing I discovered that is going to affect us crucially is the fact that you [Han] have no way of knowing that you are the one they are going to put in the carbon freeze. They bring all three of you in. But you don't know anything."

Even though Ford ended up returning for the final film in the trilogy, the actor has been very vocal about the fact that he wanted Lucas to kill Han Solo off in Return of the Jedi. The HIC is an eye catching prop, you don't want to half ass it and have regrets. Take your time and do it the right way, this will eliminate having to redo things, and just makes life easier. I wanted to try my hand at one final HIC, making this version my ideal version and better than the previous two I attempted. I'm going to take a creative liberty with this one, something I wanted to try for some time, and will share more on that later.

Han Solo gets affixed with a good coating of Bondo Epoxy Putty and then wood screws are affixed every 3-5 inches. Part Division: The model is thoughtfully divided into 15 individual pieces, allowing for ease of printing and assembly. Each part is optimized for hassle-free 3D printing without compromising on quality. Again,another debate......I like to use Rustoleum Gun Metal. I feel it gives the desired look,but again it's an ongoing debate. Choose a color you think is best. The LEDs that drive the large green light and the digit lights are embedded in boxes made from foam core. The inside of the boxes are lined with aluminum tape to help diffuse and bounce the light inside.

Weathering the surface can be accomplished with a simple wash application of acrylic craft paint mixed with liquid dish soap and water. A ratio of about 5 parts paint to 1 part liquid dish soap to 3 parts water makes a terrific wash formula for any modelling project. In this picture you will see the proper placement of the feet. Again,epoxy and a little silicone. This step is VERY easy. That would suggest Han Solo was frozen in carbonite for about half a year. However, the novel is not considered canon anymore, and there are some more concrete pointers that suggest otherwise.

You can buy the panels, if you take out a small mortgage, but that isn't in the spirit of this project. The panels also include these aluminum clips. A sheet of aluminum from the hardware store is a low-cost rendition of these and once they’re folded, they can easily be fixed to the panel with a screw. A static rangefinder is clipped to the right side of the helmet while the left features another printed tile decorated with a yellow striped pattern. Further printing appears on Boba's shoulder armour, showing the Krybes, a Mandalorian emblem depicting the skull of a Mythosaur in Legends continuity. This is a charming detail and I think the light bluish grey tiles look good too, although this section of the helmet is actually dark green in the movie. I'm going to try and get some pix posted this weekend to help with this thread. I wanted to get a basic tutorial going so folks can get things rolling.

I did this build a little differently, I sandwiched a piece of thin plywood between some 5/8 MDF trim I bought and the trim pieces that came with the box. This will make mounting the Han pieces easier, gave me a little extra depth when I pour the glue, I won't have to mess with finishing the seam in the middle of the trim pieces, and they have an edge that is already slightly rounded.The Han Solo in Carbonite has and always will be one of my favorite props from the Star Wars saga. The remaining of the Carbonite texture is created with PVA Wood Glue (AKA Elmer’s Glue). The temperatures had dropped so dramatically, I built a plastic tent and employed the help of a space heater to allow the glue to dry at a normal temperature.
