About this deal

The recipe was quite simple: Flow Control Filter Cap, paper filter, 18 grams of coffee, pour in 60 ml of water, stir vigorously for 30 seconds, close, and press. The AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap connects to the AeroPress Original, AeroPress Clear, or AeroPress Go brew chamber just like the filter cap that comes with an AeroPress coffee maker. The valve on the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap stops water from dripping through until you press the plunger. This gives you unparalleled control over your recipe - a very important part of making espresso style coffee. The small size of the exit hole also creates higher pressure during the brew process, which helps simulate espresso.

For instance, if you want a 5-minute steep before plunging, you can swiftly achieve that with the Prismo. It was at a Blue Bottle Coffee shop in downtown Los Angeles—one of my first experiences drinking specialty coffee—and I had just had a cup of a fruity Ethiopia extracted with the device. It was smooth and almost creamy, slightly acidic and not at all bitter. … I had never tried anything like it before and desperately wanted to repeat the same experience at home. COFFEE PRESS FLEXIBILITY – Fits all AeroPress coffee makers, including the new AeroPress Clear. (Coffee press not included.) The flavor effect can be significant. Higher turbidity typically results in a heavier, more full-bodied coffee. This can be desirable for some coffee drinkers, particularly those who enjoy darker roasts or more robust flavors.

FILTER FLEXIBILITY– The flexible AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap can be used with the AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter or AeroPress Paper Micro-Filters (or even both at once) to create a variety of delicious flavour profiles. (Filters sold separately)

This innovative accessory uses a pressure-actuated valve to eliminate drip through and maximize control over the brew process. Unlike others, this cap fits perfectly on all AeroPress coffee makers, including the new AeroPress Clear, and can be used with metal and paper filters – together or separately. Now you can make espresso-like crema and experiment with coarser-ground coffee. Always press with slow, steady and gentle pressure. Don’t try to muscle your way into a cup of coffee. When you hear a hiss from the AeroPress coffee maker, that means you’ve pressed out most of the liquid. Plunge all the way through until the end if you are trying to make crema. This forces the last of the gases, oils, and microparticles into the cup, helping to make crema and add body. Now You're Ready to Make Crema ESPRESSO-STYLE CREMA – When used with a paper filter and dark roast coffee, the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap uses a build up of pressure to create an espresso like crema.Does the Prismo nozzle generate more pressure than the Flow Control and that's why it doesn't clog? I don't know and don't care - you're not going to make true espresso in the Aeropress anyway (the closest you can get is the Joepresso and it's a PITA) so better off to go with what's easiest to use. Now, you might think regular AeroPress filters do the same thing, but when you add around 1.5 bars of pressure, they become more porous. That means they let some of those bitter compounds seep into your cup, making the coffee taste not as great as it could. Personally, I favor clarity (so that means paper filtration), but if you like something else, then by all means go ahead.

FILTER FLEXIBILITY - The AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap can be used with the AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter or AeroPress Paper Micro-Filters (or even both at once) to create a variety of delicious flavor profiles. ( Filters sold separately) I was a bit skeptical when I first tried Aesir filters, but I was sold after that first brew. The coffee’s clarity and taste were seriously impressive.

Here's what our customers have been saying about us...

This means the filters have tiny pore sizes, keeping those pesky sediments and itty-bitty particles from sneaking into your final cup. There are a few different brands out there. Some have a bit more pedigree, for instance, Able and Cafe Concetto. The Fellow Prismo has become more popular to ensure that no coffee is dripping out of the AeroPress, rather than an espresso gadget. However, the good thing about the Prismo is that it can restrict flow during the steeping phase. Therefore, when using it, you will not have any bypass or premature dripping.

The Flow Control fits better in the Aeropress and also fits in much smaller glasses. I didn't taste any difference in my immersion brews with Aeropress's re-usable metal filters, and the paper filters gave me a slightly cleaner taste and thinner mouthfeel which I will probably gravitate towards, especially if I can coax out some florals with it. It’s also much easier to grip and remove from the Aeropress.COMPLETE BREW CONTROL - Attach the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap to any AeroPress coffee maker to stop drip through which allows you to extend brew time and use coarser-ground coffee like pre-ground medium.
