I’d be remiss not to mention the included watch bands. The Fitbit Versa 4 comes with both small and large sizes included, and the bands are easily removed and swapped with a different band. Fitbit has added a physical button to the Versa 4, where the Versa 3 uses a really quite annoying capacitive panel. The new button feels a little cheap, perhaps because where the casing has a lovely anodized finish, the button is glossy. I initially thought it might even be plastic. It isn’t. It’s metal. Still, having a physical button is far preferable to a capacitive one. The Versa 4 runs on the latest version of Fitbit’s FitbitOS, which is compatible with Android phones and iPhones and my testing time was spent using it with the latter.The workout screen is very simple, primarily showing you one main metric at a time. Which metric you see can be adjusted with a press. This isn’t going to be great for someone who likes to see a wider range of running metrics at once, but again, Fitbits are more for someone who wants something simple and easy to follow. GPS accuracy The newest Fitbit smartwatches, the Fitbit Versa 4 and the Fitbit Sense 2, have a way easier way to replace the wristband. Follow our step-by-step guide below. Fitbit likes to remind you of what you’re missing too, with frequent references to Premium in the Fitbit app. However, you can get on without it just fine. You still get access to Fitbit’s long-standing challenges, where your steps are pitted against those of friends or strangers. There are some significant downgrades to the Fitbit Versa 4 over the Versa 3, with many features having now been removed. I was bummed to see the removal of snore and noise detection. But the removal of Google Voice instead of Alexa is just straight-up bewildering. Missing third-party apps and music support However, there’s one area you have to appreciate in these superficially smart watches, like those of Garmin and, from a different angle, Huawei. They always get you much better battery life than an Apple Watch or WearOS watch. Any questions requiring answers will be responded to both in text form on-screen, and in voice through the Versa 4’s speaker using voice synthesis. This is pretty neat, although the quality of the speaker is poor. It’s quiet and manages to distort very obviously even at this low volume, like the output of one of those musical birthday cards. Currently, you can use the Fitbit Versa 4 to get notifications from your phone, and there’s a find-my-phone app (which I use all of the time). In the near future, there should be call support to take calls directly on the Versa 4 itself, or hang up or ignore phone calls, as well. Google Wallet and Google Maps The Versa 4 is also much lighter now, at just 24g. This makes it 15% lighter than the Versa 3, and it’s also about 10% thinner. It’s this much smaller despite having the same sized display and battery life. The AMOLED screen looks great, even outside! Battery lifeIt weighs 40g all in—strap plus watch face—according to our scales, which is very light for a smartwatch. I found the included watch band to be very comfortable. Previous Versa 3 or Sense bands will work on the Fitbit Versa 4, as basically any 24mm Fitbit band can be used. Fitbit Versa 4: The Bad Heart rate accuracy The detachable bands on Versa 4 come in a variety of colors and materials, sold separately. Charge your watch A fully-charged Versa 4 has a battery life of 6+ days. Battery life and charge cycles vary with use and other factors; actual results will vary.

You’ll notice the Versa 4 / and Sense 2 are equipped with a button. Press this button to release the strap. On both sides of the smartwatch you’ll find a button. Use this button to detach the current watch strap. Its not necessary that you pull hard to detach the strap. Pull gently and make sure you press the button at the same time you’re pulling the watch strap. I have never been a fan of the “over-under” watch strap style the Fitbit Versa 4 uses, and the Apple Watch for that matter. However, it does reach the high comfort watermark that you occasionally forget you’re even wearing the watch at all. And that won’t end in catastrophe either, as 50m water resistance is more than enough to withstand a shower, or surface-level swimming. We’re unlikely to see too much expansion in this area either as if these Fitbit “health” watches get too smart, they’ll compete too closely with Google’s WearOS bands. It could really be the same device as its predecessor aside from the fact that there’s now a physical button, which was present on the original Versa and the Versa 2. Now it’s been reinstated after being dropped on the Versa 3. That means less reliance on the touchscreen and an alternative way to get to the main menu screen or shortcut settings. How to change a Fitbit Charge strap There are screen-sized widgets for things like heart rate and weather forecasts and the ability to expand the Today dashboard to see progress on elements including steps and distance. The button gets you into the main app screen as well and while it’s not a software or user interface that really stands out, it is very easy to get to grips with. It’s a less high-end design than the Apple Watch SE 2, but is clearly more style-driven than the Venu 2 Sq, the closest Garmin alternative. There’s nothing much new and exciting to see here, but there is one key difference compared to the last Versa 3 model.
