About this deal

But Tom Baker's fourth season in the role did contain this story, a script originally commissioned during those earlier years, and as a result it's pretty much the last attempt at gothic horror they mounted. Salt Solution: Salt is deadly to the Fendahl, and that effectiveness is — in-universe — the origin of the superstition that throwing salt over your shoulder wards off evil. This is great story and deserves to have much more praise heaped on it, we have some fine actors working on it including one woman who is Benedict Cumberbatch's mother.

The Time Lords destroyed the planet [forming the asteroid belt] and then hid its existence in a time loop to prevent any knowledge of the Fendahl leaking out. The Doctor knows the story as a myth from childhood and is terrified by it [it was one of the ghost stories told to him by the hermit: see State of Decay].Leela wears a similar coloured garment when she briefly teams up with the Seventh Doctor in Dimensions in Time. A Doctor Fendelman is studying a human skull which archaeologists estimate to be 12 million years old — far older than it can conceivably be — when the Doctor and Leela arrive. Fendelman is using a "Time Scanner" to study the skull, and it is this which has not only drawn the TARDIS to the lab, but also causing the skull to glow with power every time it is activated. His snarky colleagues (including Benedict Cumberbatch's mum) are stumped as to how the skull can even exist.

Costume designer Amy Roberts deemed Louise Jameson's costume to be in need of replacement, having now been in use for almost a year. Initially, Graham Williams was inclined to simply have a replica constructed, but he eventually decided to proceed with a new, more form-hugging design. If you'd like to talk about narrative problems with this story — like plot holes and things that seem to contradict other stories — please go to this episode's discontinuity discussion. Deleted and Extended Scenes - Material originally cut from Image of the Fendahl is presented here courtesy of a low-quality monochrome video recording A mad scientist, an evil scientist, a reasonable scientist, a beautiful scientist, the wise woman and her yokel son are a fine supporting case.Bucher-Jones’ book really is a fascinating and enlightening tome, covering a surprising amount with asides, theories, and, in a bit of a curve ball, maths. Will catch up on the shows, have only got as far the “lighthouse” urban dictionary definition. Oh how I laughed and oh how my good lady was unimpressed. Shirtless Scene: Limited — Adam Colby somehow manages to completely unbutton his shirt while tied to a pillar. As I said, though, it’s still a good story, if a little convoluted. The initial idea of an ancient skull arriving on Earth thousands of years before man, and influencing man’s development has a lot of potential. The added twist that this skull is from the Fendahl, which was supposed to have been the stuff of Time Lord legend, was good, too. But then we get into how the Fendahl is drawing energy, and making use of Thea who then becomes the core of the Fendahl which it uses to convert members of a cult group into Fendahleen, which it plans to use to form a gestalt entity… you following? See what I mean.
