Bass does not have heaps of quantity but is rich in quality it does not seem to slow the way many of its competitors do and while, as mentioned, it doesn't slam as hard as you will find on more fashion-orientated phones it still reaches satisfying levels for audio purists. All in all, the SRH440 is vastly inferior in this regard to close competitors like the MDR-7506 for example, which utilizes metal for the headband rather than a cheap-feeling plastic. Subdued upper mids and enhanced mid-bass. If anything else, this is a headphone that wouldn't fatigue. The large, soft earpads and adjustable headband mean you can get hours of extended use while comfortably wearing the SRH440 headphones and their collapsible design means they’re well suited for portability – they even come with a carry pouch for extra protection.Earpads will get hot and sweaty after a while. They are big enough but not deep enough. They are replaceable, however. Yes, this is the opinion of one person on the internet. Please do not get too offended if your favourite headphone isn’t graded as highly as you’d like. (vice versa applies)
As a gaming headphone, possibly the best technically though with the usual pitfalls of the Audeze house sound.The Grado SR60i is just a bit less expensive (on the street), and comes from a design philosophy that seems to parallel the approach Shure has taken with the 440s.
Needs a little more upper midrange to balance out the honkiness. Good dynamic performance especially in the bass. Like I said before, these are quite hefty in weight, but also in size. (Which I like a lot, but for those looking for smaller, lighter cans, I don't think this is where you want to go) The plastics used on the headphones are very solid and of high quality. I guess I had taken the build of the previous set of headphones I was using as fair, so when I just grabbed the earcups and pulled them apart I was blown away with just how well these things were made. Solid tuning with close to top-tier resolution. An inoffensive all-rounder that lives up to its reputation.
A planar that comes unnervingly close estat speed, but not quite. Solid technicalities with excellent tone. I think the 440 is runner-up simply due to its build and comfort, but honestly, this could just be a case of flipping a coin. In my very brief experience with the originals they were both surprisingly listenable. They were a slight letdown on build and comfort so alas I never owned either pair myself. Anothter pair of headphones with bass emphasis. Not overly bassy, though. But a bigger problem is treble, which is a little too polite to be neutral. I would not consider these headphones a good value.
