About this deal

Personally, I like this aspect of the shoe Reebok Nano X1 and I know it deviates from the hardcore CrossFit mentality of previous Nanos, but it is interesting seeing the different demographics that Reebok is reaching with this model compared to the previous Reebok Nanos. Reebok Nano X1 for Day-to-Day Wear and Shorter Runs

Reebok was the original CrossFit shoe, launched in 2011 and now on its 10th version. Up until the Nano X, the Reebok shoe featured the official CrossFit branding. The Nano was unchallenged in the CrossFit shoe market until 2015 when Nike launched its Metcon, working with some of the sport’s top performing and most influential athletes. Previously I had rated the Nike Metcon 6 as better for running than the Nano X – and that’s still the case – but the Nano X1 has now become better.)

Additionally, I like the midsole and outsole in this model and how they blend together. The Floatride Energy Foam midsole is lightweight and the full rubber lug-pattern outsole provides adequate traction while also remaining lightweight. Despite the Reebok Nano X1 being very different than previous Reebok Nanos I still found plenty of things to like about it. The Metcon 6 has OK cushion too, but it’s just a little less effective than what’s now in the Nano.

I’m always a tad dubious about sizing on the Nano’s, as I wear half a smaller size than all of my other running and training shoes. With the firm’s Floatride Energy Foam built in the forefoot, there’s an added bonus of cushioning when you need it. This is ideal for high-energy activities, such as sprinting but doesn’t ruin the firmness needed when it comes to more intense exercise. It’s this that makes the Nano X1 the most versatile shoe in the series yet.

During my workout, my feet had wiggle room but also felt stable during a heavy squat. As I've found to be typical of Reebok shoes, the toe area of the Nano X1s is fairly wide, so my toes were able to press down on the floor, allowing for better balance and grip on the ground. The toe is also slightly lifted from the ground; I found this really useful for any plank-based moves where my body is balancing on my toes. The Nike Metcon 7’s outsole has a much more narrow build compared to the Nano X1. The mid-foot has a concaved construction and feels more narrow and the heel has a cutout to where you can see the Hyperlift insert through the outsole. The Nano X1 is 2 ounces lighter than its predecessor, has 7mm of drop (Up from 4), and best of all – has some effective cushion in the heel and midfoot.
