About this deal

A plant-based version of the Cadbury Dairy Milk bar will hit shelves next month – and it’s registered with The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark. If you’re yet to discover LoveRaw, now is the time to do so. LoveRaw is renowned for taking classic chocolate bars and veganising them. The vegan chocolatiers famously created a Kinder Beuno-style dairy-free chocolate bar that instantly became a hit for vegans and non-vegans alike. For this taste test, I tried the delightful new Crunchy Orange flavour and couldn’t get enough of the combination of zesty orange with pieces of crunchy waffle. Other flavours include caramel, hazel-‘not’, caramel & sea salt, and orange crunch (another personal favourite). The launch is part of a growing trend for vegan products driven by consumers’ desire for healthier, more environmentally friendly options.

Cadbury is encouraging everyone to give it a try, suggesting "if it isn’t for you, then there is [the] classic Dairy Milk".Reading behind the lines, that suggests the flavour profile might not be as similar to the Dairy Milk recipe. While many brands use nut milks in place of dairy, H!P has opted for sustainable oat milk to give its bars a creamy texture. Personally, I find this gives the bars the most realistic milk chocolate flavour and texture as it allows the flavour of the cocoa to shine. What’s more, LoveRaw has launched a variety of vegan treats including peanut butter cups, a range of wafer bars, and most recently, their Nutty Choc Balls (think Ferrero Rocher). We’re delighted to finally confirm that the rumors swirling around Cadbury Plant Bar are true. We’ve worked hard to add this delicious, dairy-free option to our iconic range, and we can only apologize for making our fans wait,” Michael Moore, Cadbury Marketing Manager, said in a statement at the time. “Ensuring we deliver against our commitment to exceptional flavor has taken quite some time, but as of November, the wait is over.”

Testing chocolate is a hard job, but someone has to do it. We ranked these vegan chocolate bars based on flavour, texture, and price. Additional ingredients and flavours are of course welcomed, but a good quality classic chocolate bar is always a winner. We offer a waiting list. Once we call and confirm all reservations we will give you a call if spots open. For me, the best vegan chocolate bar has to have the right level of sweetness without being overwhelming – absolutely no fuzzy teeth allowed! I also want to get a slightly bitter taste of cocoa throughout the bar. A delicious smooth chocolate without the “glass and a half”. We hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.

Earlier this year, a vegan version of the iconic KitKat bar began rolling out across 15 European countries following a test launch in the UK and other countries in 2021. Made from a combination of vegan chocolate and vegan wafer fingers, the KitKat V was created by Nestlé’s research and development team in York, United Kingdom. The expansion of the vegan KitKat is one of the biggest launches of a vegan version of a major confectionery product. As I said, I know that these chocolate delights are not chocolate bars, but if you are in need of some delicious vegan truffles, you know where to go. Sorry it’s taken this long,” Cadbury wrote in its letter. “Sorry it seemed like we weren’t listening to your calls … And sorry for all the other chocolate you’ve had to eat while you waited. We simply wanted it to be perfect.” Cadbury’s vegan bars are a long time coming Researchers have spent two years developing the bar - which is longer than it took scientists to create the vaccines to fight Covid-19. Michael Moore, marketing manager at Cadbury, said: ‘We’re delighted to finally confirm that the rumours swirling around Cadbury Plant Bar are true!It is also considerably smaller than Cadbury’s original Dairy Milk bar. But to me, a square or two of the Plant Bar is enough to satisfy my chocolate cravings when I need it most. Nomo’s chocolate is available in big and small bars, chocolate drops, buttons, and even kids’ chocolate lollies. My favourite of the range is the fruit & crunch bar. The bar is studded with juicy raisins and crunchy crispy pieces to replace the nuts.
