About this deal

The main benefit of robot mowers is that they will mow your lawn more often than you would and keep the grass perfectly mowed all year round. The next step is to then configure the Luba AWD 5000 to your lawn. This can be done within the app where you can set up to 10 mowing zones. This is about as much work as you’ll ever have to do with the Luba AWD 5000, as it involves manually driving the machine around the lawn to create the mowing area. This is all done from within the app and let’s face it, it’s kind of fun as it’s just like playing with a remote control car! As I have discussed, the Luba AWD 5000 gives you as much as 3 hours per charge which is really good considering it’ll mow up to 500 square metres in as little as an hour. But it’s also pretty fast when it comes to charging. With Luba, forget all the above worries. You just walk with Luba along to draw vitrual bounderies, you can program your multi-cutting zones without the hassle of digging or burying the wires. Since this is an intelligent mower, it won’t surprise you to learn that it charges automatically. Once the power begins to dwindle, the Luba AWD 5000 will automatically return to its charging station to give itself a boost.

The reason for this is that it’s so robust and well-equipped. For example, the AWD in its name stands for all wheel drive which improves traction on slopes. Couple that with the amazingly solid rubber tyres and excellent suspension and it’s not hard to see why this is a real workhorse on hills. Cutting Heights Practically speaking, the Luba AWD 5000 would suit anyone who wants a reliable robotic lawn mower that doesn’t require a lot of work or effort to set up. This is a mower that you can set up and leave alone, so you really don’t have to worry about whether your garden will be well maintained. The problem with this is that there is the chance of missing spots, but this isn’t the case with the Luba AWD 5000 which offers much more intelligent cutting patterns. That’s all thanks to the advanced RTK navigation system, so the machine knows where it’s already cut and won’t keep going over the same area twice. Once the setup is complete, you are good to go and will never have to worry about mowing the lawn ever again. What’s more you will have a well maintained and healthy lawn, due to the mulching process, at all times – happy days! Mowing Featuresinch max cutting height feels low – I usually like to mow at 3.5 or 4 inches – many robot mower competitors offer higher mowing height than 2.8 inches Unlike other robotic lawn mowers, there’s no need to find a shovel to bury any perimeter wires. All you need to do is open the app and walk along the boundaries of your lawn with your mower. You only need to do this when you are establishing a new zone. Overall I was impressed with the obstacle-avoidance system when used on level 2. When off or using level 1, it had trouble, particularly with our playset. Constructive criticism The RTK navigation system on the Luba AWD 5000 had no problems getting around or between the two mowing zones I set up. The performance and final result of the cut were seriously impressive. For this example, the lawn size is 3000m2 and the robot model is a LUBA AWD 5000 that mows 500m2 per hour

Bluetooth bug I mentioned above seems to have been fixed with a software update, but with two software updates I’ve had to try twice each time to get them to install (on the bright side Mammotion is consistently putting out regular updates!) I found the Luba AWD 5000 to be an incredibly high tech and well designed piece of equipment that’s so easy to use. If you like the idea of having something top of the range without needing a degree in software engineering or robotics, then this is going to be right up your street. However, the Luba AWD 5000 benefits from the latest technology which is a form of GPS known as Real Time Kinetics or RTK, for short. This is one of the most accurate methods and allows the mower to detect boundaries, obstacles and give a much more intelligent mow; but more on that later! It’s also a great choice for people who have very specific and complex lawn needs because of the many adjustments and configurations available within the app. Conclusion The Luba AWD 5000 comes with its own charging station which can be installed on the ground. It also comes with screws and pegs to secure everything. Mammotion is built upon the self-driving robotics solution from AgileX Robotics and is a part of the Songling Robot Shenzen Limited Company based in Shenzen, China. The Songling Robot Shenzen Limited Company is responsible for developing many different types of robots, including the newly launched LUBA robot mower. Special Features Moreover, there’s even the option to choose the type of cut you would like including a fine cut, high grass or efficient cut. There’s also an option to customise how the mower cuts to suit the individual needs on your lawn. With a spinning blade, safety is no joke when mowing the lawn, which is why safety is a top priority in LUBA’s design. You’ll find several safety sensors on your LUBA, including:

The residential lawn care market has remained relatively unchanged for years and is in desperate need of innovation," said Jidong Wei, founder ofMammotion. "This is an industry ripe for disruption and with the acceleration in robotic technology capabilities, Mammotion is ready to lead the charge in powering the next generation of smart robot mowers. We are very pleased to introduce a product like LUBA - one that is technologically advanced and precise, yet simple and easy to use - to take the 'work' out of yardwork." I also had an issue a couple of times where Luba would say it is disconnected from my WiFi, but will show as connected – I’ve then had to manually disconnect from my network, power-cycle Luba, and reconnect manually If you’ve ever used a robot lawn mower before then you may be familiar with the fact that they mostly use a random cutting pattern. This gets the job done, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the most accurate and efficient method. Getting the Luba AWD 5000 setup is beautifully simple, despite the fact that there’s a lot included in the box. But don’t let this put you off; you can see just how easy it is to setup in my video.

When using any bladed tool, safety is of the utmost importance and Mammotion have left nothing to chance with some innovative safety features. Lift and Tilt Sensors In days gone by, robotic lawn mowers relied on a perimeter wire to prevent them from leaving the desired area. There have since been robot mowers that are equipped with cameras and, as long as you have a well defined lawn, they’ll stay where you want them to be. The LUBA robot lawn mower comes with a large 10Ah battery that lets you cut for approximately 3 hours before needing a recharge. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about charging since it has an auto-recharge feature. Once the battery is low, it will automatically return to its charging station. Once it is 85% charged, it will resume its mowing session until the zone has been completely mowed. The underside of Luba showing two spinning discs, each with 4 cutting blades. Mows in Straight Lines – Stripes Lawn To help protect both your robotic mower, lawn ornaments, and flower beds, LUBA comes equipped with an advanced collision avoidance system that uses four ultrasonic radars to detect objects in the mower’s path and change the mower’s direction. These precise radars can detect objects as small as 2-inches within a field of view of 220 degrees. If the system fails, the mower has three bumpers for further protection. Off-Road Capabilities After hearing a bit more about the Luba AWD from Jeff, I was excited to test it out. Mammotion Luba AWD 5000 specs
