Using a ruler and a pencil, mark two lines on the INSIDE fabric. The first line should be 2″ in from the left edge. The second line should be 2 1/4″ to the right of the first line. Ever since listening to Betsan Corkhill a week or so ago, I have shed any guilt that I might have about the number of projects that I have on the go. It’s fine to have projects to suit any mood or occasion, and sometimes we just need something that’s fun. Rnd 2: In any st, ch 3, Beg. Popcorn in same stitch, * Ch 2, sk next st, Popcorn in next st, repeat from * around, ch 2, sl st to beg. popcorn. (8 popcorns, 8 ch 2 sps) Drive down the road in style with this boho seat belt strap cover! It’s a perfect cheery looking accessory just in time for spring!! This was a great project to use up some scrap yarn from my stash. Don’t want to cover that seat belt strap!? Don’t worry! This video still offers you a 3D granny square design that would make a fantastic blanket! I switched to a standard foot to sew on the Velcro. Stitch about an 1/8″ from the edge of the velcro around all sides. If the needle is to the left, you can use the center mark on the foot as a guide. Make sure one part of the velcro is on the outside.

and continue to the end of the round, ch1, turn, work to the 2 chains. Then insert your hook into the gap created by the chains and work 2 dc into the gap. Join us all this week as we share project highlighting our Fleece! HeatnBond ® Fusible Fleece and our StitchnSew™! Measure 3″ in from each end and use your fabric pen or pencil to draw a vertical line. With heavily napped fabrics it can be hard to use a marking pen or pencil, you can instead mark with pins, removing them as you stitch, or – since it’s such a short seam– you could even lead with your seam gauge to keep the stitching in line. Seat belts should all be just shy of 2″ wide. We will make one 4.5″ strip that will encompass the seat belt itself, and you can decide how tall to make it based on your own preference. You can make yours as short as 10″ or so, or up to 20″– 24″! Totally up to you. You can, of course, do exactly as I have done which is about 14″ tall.Ready to get started? You're just a few easy steps away from a more comfortable driving experience! Materials: Feel for your stitches. It’s not so easy to see your individual stitches when working with a faux fur yarn. So, it’s best if you feel for them instead of trying to look for them. The easiest way is to use your fingers to feel for the next stitch and where to insert your crochet hook at.

And, because I know you’re wondering, here’s a link to those great Grocery Totes. Sewing Tools You Need This is how I store small bits of ribbon. I wrap it around index cards, folded in half, and secure with plastic paper clips. On the open end, fold the fabrics to the inside about 1/2″. Use the HeatnBond® Fused Fleece as a guide. I had 11 colours so to work out the buttonholes I made one after the first two rows, then worked 11 colours (22 rows) before making the next one. I worked two more rows (1 colour) after the last buttonhole it matched the other end of the cover. Rnd 3: in any ch 2 sp, ch 3, work a 4 DC in same sp, * sc in popcorn, 5 DC in next sp, repeat from * around, sl st to beginning. (8 Shells)Tab all sewn on! I used the edge of my walking foot as a guide for top stitching. The extra stitch at the top is because I got too far away from the edge and didn’t catch my opening seam. With the exterior right side up and flat on your work surface, place one side of the Velcro® strip along the RIGHT side, lining up the outside edge of the strip with the topstitching seam you just made. Pin the Velcro® in place or use my fave, seam tape to hold it steady while you stitch. I used a walking foot and quilt guide to sew the minky fabric to the fleece. This is a thin minky and the fleece just gives it some more body. You can use batting material, but I had the fleece left over from another project. The walking foot helps keep the minky and fleece from stretching and moving too much. If you don’t have a walking foot, I suggest using quilt batting and cotton fabric, although a walking foot works well for these too.

If you are using two different prints, fuse the fleece to the fabric that will be on the outside of the seat belt cover (from here on out I’ll refer to the fabrics as “outside” and “inside”). This square is 6 inches wide. A seatbelt is 2 inches across so this will fit perfectly around the strap when you tri-fold it. Rnd 4: In any sc, ch 3, 6 DC in same st, *Sc in middle st of shell, 7 DC in next sc, repeat from * around, sl st to beginning ch up 3. (8 Shells) There will be an added expense of more travel and hopefully this won’t deter our ability to provide consistent videos on a weekly basis.Stitch the Velcro® in place along all four sides through all layers, pivoting at the corners to make a rectangle of stitching. Go slowly and carefully; your stitching will show so you want your seam to be nice and straight. I used 1.5” buttons because that’s what I had on hand, but you could definitely use smaller buttons too. Anything 1” or bigger would probably work. Is Faux Fur Yarn Hard to Crochet With? Using a straight stitch, sew along the two drawn lines. These sewn lines are the folding lines on the cover and will help it fold nicely around the seat belt and stay snug. Any scrap yarn (I used worsted weight size 4 Medium yarn by various brands – Lion Brand, Red Heart Yarn, Brava-WeCrochet)

And to get you ready for your next project…enter to win an assortment of our Fleece, HeatnBond® and more! Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse the interfacing rectangle to the wrong side of the exterior piece. Turn the fabric right-side out and use a pencil or other sharp edge to straighten out the corners. Fold in the open edges around the hole, and pin it closed. To make a double crochet (dc) stitch, put the hook through the second stitch, wrap the yarn around and pull through to make two loops …

As you can see in the photo below, you may or may not have stitched over some of the fused fleece on the sides and bottom. It’s fine either way! Measure the velcro strips and trim to be the needed length. I made mine about 1/2″ shorter than the cover. Position one of the velcro strips along the left edge of the INSIDE fabric. Sew in place. I recently bought a new-to-me car, a FIAT 500X that is absolutely adorable. I have named her Fiona and she is so much fun to drive. This is the smallest little SUV I’ve ever seen and the gas mileage is great – which of course I’ll always appreciate.
