About this deal

Paul Smith of Maxïmo Parkat Trnsmt festival in Glasgow last year. Photograph: Roberto Ricciuti/Redferns At music festivals, my go-to lens is my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8. As music festivals feature high stages, the extra distance between performers and the photo pit will be well covered by a 70-200mm lens. Here are just a couple of popular and affordable pairs that I know would be great for music festivals: Start times, the distance between stages, and the anticipated popularity of the bands arethe main factors for my planning. The latter point of popularity is especially important if the number of photographers is expected to be limited. Such was the case with Rage Against The Machine performing at Lollapalooza 2008, when only about 20 photographers were admitted to the photo pit out of 100+ shooters. It’s this social media engagement that will spell the difference between an event that flies under the radar, and the one that becomes the biggest date in peoples’ calendars.

Due to the bigger scale of most music festivals, the midrange zoom can serve a “wider” role than it does at smaller shows, and may offer all the wide-angle coverage you need on a full-frame camera. What in-camera editing does require is sufficient total storage of photographer selects for the complete event, enough extra capacity for the last headlining act, and the battery to power extended use of the LCD. The downside to this approach is that you don't have the benefit of a large display for critical editing, so there is a real chance of imprudent decisions and accidental deletions.Durango Boots opted for a simple, yet effective opportunity, when they gave country music fans at Canada’s Boots and Hearts festival unlimited rides on their mechanical bull, El Diablo. 2. Tell more authentic stories My general music photography kit includes three zoom lenses: an ultra-wide, a midrange, and a telephoto. Shooting music festivals, this is no exception and I still rely on a main, three lens kit: The Newcastle singer is also part of Unthank : Smith, a collaboration with folk singer Rachel Unthank. “We put a record out this year,” he said. “We looked at a few logistical things. It would have cost us a lot of money to do festival dates, and our fees would have been minimal. So we didn’t.”

Some, such as the Decibullz custom moulded earplugs, allow you to mould each bud at home. Granted, it can be a bit of a faff to get right, but it does mean you’ll get a good fit which is really what we’re after. You can also remould them should the results not be perfect the first time around... so no worries about messing things up straight out of the box. Are you getting geared up for the 2023’s festival season? Get ready for the best festival experience with all the goods. Having gone to festivals myself and camped out a ton, I’m here to share with you festival accessories, gear, and equipment that can help you have an experience of a lifetime. There are a ton of different brands out there, but I think it’d be best to invest in a professional pair!

Looking for some epic music festivals around the world…?

A model like this 13″ folding stepstool is a good balance of being compact will still offering a bit of height. Camera Bags When it comes to festival equipment, be ready with these appropriate bags, essentials for relaxing, and camping items. Bags Overall, deleting images in-camera can get you through an event and it costs nothing but time, but it's also the least optimal option. Only recommended in a pinch. Fanbytes’ Harry says, “The last two years have transformed the digital marketing landscape, with the incredible rise of TikTok and the influence of content creators over the pandemic. To effectively engage with Gen Z, festivals need to freshen up their marketing mix and look to reach consumers in new ways.

EarGasm High Fidelity for Festivals: “Protect yourself from harmful noise levels at loud festivals. Preserve sound quality with our patent pending innovative attenuation filters. Reduces noise evenly to maintain the full spectrum of sound while protecting hearing. Won’t muffle music or voices as foam plugs do.” An ultra-wide lens like the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 I use is great for capturing the atmosphere of festivals, and especially nice if performers leave the stage and get up close and personal with fans.Additionally, wide-angle lenses are fantastic for performers with more theatrical stage productions, where you really want to cover a large expanse of the stage and capture the full lighting rig, for example.

When photographing music festivals, I always like to plan a schedule of the bands I want to photograph. As with most things, timing is everything with festival photography. Another approach is to use fewer, but larger capacity cards like 64GB, 128GB or 256GB cards. Even if you don't use all the space allotted by these big cards, having multiple large-gig cards on hand will ensure that you'll have plenty of space every day. Music Festivals can get super hot and sweaty, and having one of these large handheld fans can be a game-changer! I recently attended a music festival in Bali (where I’m currently living), and bringing one of these was fantastic! I use two bodies for all my music photography and for festivals, I will rely on the 70-200mm and 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses as my main pair. More on this below. Lenses For Festival Photography Wear Comfortable Shoes: Needless to say, you're probably going to be on your feet for hours and hours at a music festival. Comfortable shoes are a necessity. Both in crowded photo pits and for trekking/running between stages, comfortable footwear is absolutely essential. Leave the flip flops at the beach.

If you're only using one camera, try and use the first three songs wisely. Change lenses in between songs. If you're chasing a moment and need to change lenses, it might well be over by the time you eventually switch lenses. Estereo Picnic is Bogota’s Lollapalooza — a mix of local artists and international touring acts who take over a golf course and country club on the outskirts of the capital city with a thriving fan community and “Hippie Market” that attracts fans to this mountainous festival. Bring plenty of rain gear because it will inevitably get very wet during the torrential downpours that temporarily soak the festival each day. 31. Desert DazeWe’re music fans here at Louder. Therefore, we test our plugs in the only proving ground we know – live music venues and band rehearsal rooms. Along with music festivals, there are also Arts, Comedy, Theatre, Boutique, Family Friendly, Festival Holiday and Food Festivals to enjoy. Food lovers can sink their teeth into a variety of international delicacies, street food and great eats at most events this summer. Although it may be his first time performing at Reading and Leeds, Fred has become the first electronic artist to bring the festival to a close. In recent months, he's left fans across the globe speechless with performances at Madison Square Garden in New York, as well as Glastonbury. With a multiple full days of shooting, you’re going to want to have your camera’s batteries fully charged before the start of every day.
