While flats should be rare, they can still happen. Also, a tire can get worn out over time as well, which will also require a change. That’s why the Pro 2 comes with a spare tire, which is a great move by Xiaomi to support their customers in my opinion, as just the tire itself can end up costing quite a lot. Overall, the Xiaomi Pro 2 is a brilliant scooter and a clear upgrade on the original M365 Pro. It’s easy to set up and ride, and the powerful 300W motor helps you navigate hills easily when in the right mode. The explosion-proof pneumatic 8.5-inch tires are one of the major points of improvement compared to the Xiaomi M365 Pro model. The old model was notoriously prone to flats, and they were difficult to fix as well. The Pro 2 comes with stronger, puncture-resistant tires that have proven so far to be a lot more durable. And even better, they don’t sacrifice ride comfort at all! For most rides, however, you’re likely to want to be in Drive or Sports mode, simply because they deliver superior acceleration, more speed and the power you need to climb hills. I found that even in Drive mode the Pro 2 struggled to pull my 80kg frame up steep hills, especially on cold days. That very much depends on the electric scooter model you have and the ingress protection (IP) rating it has. Most commuter electric scooters have protection against water jets from all directions, which gives them an IPX5 or IPX6 rating. However, those aren't recommended to use during rain, especially heavy downpours, most likely in case you encounter flooding.

On top of that, they provide the majority of scooters for the largest scooter-sharing companies like Lime, Bird, and many others. There are ways to customize the firmware of the Pro 2 and tweak it to perform in the way you want it to. You should know that this process may damage your scooter and void your warranty. That said, it’s such a doddle to ride and the Pro 2’s more powerful electric motor may suit heavier riders, who may find its performance is preferable over the smaller 1S. But it is still officially limited to a 100kg rider. The Pure Air Pro model is both more waterproof and can handle up to 120kg. The scooter must be connected to the Xiaomi app via bluetooth before you can use it (more about the app in the Apps section below). The Xiaomi Pro 2 is easy to push around and light enough to carry around for short periods of time but, at 14.2kg, it’s not something you want to be carrying around for too long. When folded, it measures 1.13m long, so should fit into most car boots. If the features are little more than refined on the Xiaomi Pro 2 compared to the Xiaomi M365 Pro, the same goes for performance. Both have a reasonably long base plate that makes them easy to control, and though which mode you use will depend on your weight and the terrain in the area you’re going to ride your electric scooter, both have plenty of power.

The IP54 waterproofing rating means it is theoretically protected against water splashing from any angle, but those thinking of riding in all weather conditions might want to look towards the Pure Air e-scooter, as it carries the more waterproof IP65 rating.

The scooter has many reflector lights placed on various important places on the scooter – two yellow ones on each of the sides in the rear, another two yellow ones on the sides in the front, and a white one in the front of the stem. The three riding modes are noticeably different. Eco Mode is great if you’re cruising around slowly and trying to save battery. In this mode, Xiaomi says you’ll get up to 28 miles from a single charge.

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro comes with 10-inch self-sealing tubeless tires, which offer enhanced resistance against punctures. On the other hand, the Pro 2 has 8.5-inch chamber tires, which are not specifically designed as puncture-proof but still provide reliable performance.

Other than that, the riding experience is fast and smooth, with the sensitive thumb throttle proving easy to modulate, something that can’t be said for many rivals. There’s also a powerful rear hydraulic disc brake and regenerative braking in the front wheel motor, ensuring stopping distances are short. The lines and the overall build are ergonomic and enable a natural body stance and posture while riding (except for the tallest riders, which may want to look at some scooters for tall adults that may fit them better).
