Okay. So thus far we've only talked about the internal sequencer. But this actually has MIDI ports. It's got a MIDI input MIDI out port and a USB port. When it's plugged in via USB, it's a class-compliant MIDI device. It's worth noting that it does not run on MIDI USB power. It just uses that MIDI port for MIDI stuff. So Donner just sent me this. It's a Donner B1 analog synth . It's a Monophonic 303-style synthesizer with a suggested retail price of 168 dollars. Here, you can also find the Chinese brand Donner which has released many very affordable effect pedals in recent years. Already for less than 20€. I also took a closer look at some of them with synths ( Yellow Fall, Wave, Tutti Love, Vintaverb). Today came the news that Donner now also builds affordable synthesizers.I t’s not a hot SB news but a synth news worth reporting. Analog Built-In Effects】The analog saturation and delay effects located at the end of signal path make the sound of the Essential B1 more warm and fancy, help you get the right sound from the get-go. Once I've got my pattern playing, I can switch patterns and it will wait till the end of the pattern before switching. So it's not like it's going to suddenly switch you to another pattern. In this way, you can kind of build up songs. And your set would consist of switching between different patterns.

We’ve optimized the sequencer of this synthesizer to be easier and more intuitive to use. Easily edit your own sequences with 128 sequence presets covering a range of musical styles, and 128 user programmable presets. let's turn the saturation on. Right now the drive is all the way down. I'm going to turn it up a bit. You can see it gets a little bit more aggressive. Chinese low-budget guitar pedal and music tech manufacturer Donner has launched B1, it’s first 303-style analog bassline Synthesizer with sequencer.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

However much promised, economic ties do not bring about meaningful changes to oppressive, autocratic regimes. Oh, and it's got a delay. Acid lines sound great with that effect, and Donner seems to have thought ahead there. Sound-wise, the delay isn't as aggressive as you might think, but if you're out doing a DAWless gig, it's excellent to have that right there and ready to go. Again, Donner seems to have done their homework on what the TB-303 needed to have.

There're several different dimensions you can actually change. For example, all of these right now will have a gate length of four. Gate Length is how long the note is. Let's say that we wanted the first note to be a bit longer. What we would do is we would hit Gate Length. 4 is the sort of middle value that means that the note is 50% of the length. 8 is the highest. The B1 sounds on the money in replicating the 303, has some solid effects and is a very reasonable price. The elephant in the room is Behringer’s TD-3, an accurate-sounding analogue 303-clone, currently around half the price of the B1 in the UK. B1 is Donner’s first Synthesizer. It is an analog bass Synthesizer with a single oscillator. The alarm bells are going off: single oscillator design, could this be a 303 clone? It could be because: you can choose two wavefroms either sawtooth or square and modify the pitch. Like on the original Roland TB-303. Let's say that we wanted to do that on the very last step. Turn Ratchet up. Once again we use these Up and Down arrows to turn that up. That's going to play the note three times instead of just one time. I'm going to turn that off because I actually don't like the way that one sounds. That seems like a good place for a slide. Let's hear how that sounds. Just like that, we've added some more characters to our loop. If we like the changes that we made, we're just going to hit Save. The square wave does not have the exact hollow sound of the 303, this could probably be modded though. The layout of the B1 is straightforward, with the synth controls up at the top, a rubberised silicone keyboard which doubles up for sequencing, and a separate sequencer section off to the right. The synth aspect itself is very simple, and extremely close to the setup of the TB-303, albeit not exactly a clone. Like the 303, the B1 is monophonic, meaning it can only play one note at a time (a common approach for analogue synths). You have a choice of sawtooth and square waves for different basic tones, which then feed into a resonant low-pass filter. An envelope decay control works in tandem with the Depth control in the filter section to modulate the decay time and filter cutoff, and that’s the extent of your options. It’s about as simple as a synth gets, but perfectly sufficient to get those classic acid squelches and deeper, low-resonance basslines. Control Buttons: UP and DOWN, TRANSPOSE, PATTERN, TEMPO / TAP, PLAY / STOP, CLEAR, WRITE, BAR, SIGNATURE, DOTTED Then, the signal flows into a filter with cutoff, resonance and depth controls. On the modulation side, you get a simple decay envelope. Also similar.

Finally, Slide. And Slide allows you to slide between notes. This is another very important thing when it comes to acid house music. The original 303 had that slide functionality and it gets used a lot in that genre. Sometimes when pressing the keys when a pattern is playing it will transpose, other times it will clear a note, seems like a bug.

Reviews

Behringer’s clone certainly looks the part more, is more faithful in its sequencer design, and matches the CV outputs of the original. The B1, however, is easier to program and its additional playability and sequencing tools mean that it can do more than simply replicate straightforward acid bass riffs. Its delay is a great addition too. Okay. Enough about the App. Let's try to use this thing as a MIDI device. The first thing I'm going to do is set up an external instrument device in Ableton Live. And I'm just going to come up with a random sequence to test things out. Okay. Let's hear this. Trusted Shops Donner is (I believe) a Chinese manufacturer of musical instruments with warehousing in the USA and Europe. The company has been in business for a decade. It’s built up a range of own-brand musical gear, including guitars, drums, strings, wind and keyboard instruments. The B1 looks like its first entry into the synthesizer market, and it’s pretty nifty. Intuitive Step Sequencer】The sequencer is the key of the Essential B1. Instead of giving you one of the most complicated sequencers on the planet, we make it as intuitive as it can be. No need to be headache while programming your idea any more! There are also several live performance features while running patterns, to make the Essential B1 more playable.
