I love enemies to lovers and this was such a fun take on the trope. Enzo Vitale is one sexy beast and the fact that he speaks Italian AND swims with sharks really just takes him to the next level. I really like Sawyer’s character as well. She is relatable and likable even though there are things she’s done that are definitely not great. She’s also hilarious! Adeline and Zade had some sort of unique synchrony and symbiosis that I did not feel with these two. Maybe that was the entire point? They are both very damaged and different from one another. I honestly didn't feel connected to their love story as much as I did to the world building. Identity and self-discovery form a fundamental aspect of the storyline in “Does It Hurt?”. This is by far way lighter than the cat and mouse duet, with quite a few more sex scenes and a very chaotic and disconnected pair. Also for the Zade Meadows fans, here is Enzo literally bringing Sawyer to his home after meeting her: "Why are you so nervous to enter our home?" 😏 giving zaddy vibes IYKYK. And I hope you all enjoy their story, as much as you're able.you may have wondered, why would the author make the name of this book a question? there must be some significance to the plot or maybe the trauma the heroine underwent during her childhood...NONE OF THE ABOVE— Every small detail and interaction with the old man - resident of the island who shelters the couple - was so thrilling.

I wanted Enzo to kill him first and then kill himself with that same knife. I would've definitely gave it 5 stars then. They're not grumpy x sunshine, they're thunderstorm x lightning. Enzo is angry, and loud. And Sawyer is bright, yet destructive. Maybe it's just because I love storms, but they're perfect together. Plot? Had potential but Enzo, Sawyer and that creepy old guy just messed it up with their existence. If there's one thing I've come to know about this author, it's her ability to create some of the most vivid and memorable characters. And I'm not just talking main characters, I'm talking about all the secondary characters. I'm a reader that will forget names, plot, almost all details, yet her characters and stories stay with me. I know sex sells, but there is such a thing as overkill, and this book definitely fits that bill; and how on earth two people can be continually attracted to one another when they have a bone-deep hatred and are terribly mean to each other, is beyond me. Sexual tension or not, two broken, messed up souls or not, you can't tell me such "attraction" can realistically be sustained long term, let alone lead to love. Yes, I know this is fiction, and perhaps the goal is to allow readers/listeners to live vicariously through the characters to experience something they otherwise wouldn't, but good grief, there is more to life than sex. impossibile odiarti quando mi fai sentire così vivo.” It’s impossible to hate you when you make me feel so alive This book was trying to be too many things. Part new adult, part revenge, part stranded on an island, part gothic, part mystery/thriller. The execution of all these parts failed. I didn’t get why Enzo was so pissed at Sawyer for stealing his identity and opening a new credit card. Like, it wasn't a good thing she did, but was it worth him absolutely losing his mind over? No. So overly dramatic. There will be people who will see Enzo and Sawyer as lesser than, but in some ways, I find their story so much more bizarre and interesting. And I love them for that. To me, they're explosive.

And let me tell you he is a professional with sharks and he did THIS because she stole his identity after they had a one-night stand. And then he went on telling her that sharks mean no harm until you harm them blah blah blah. How very professional Enzo 🥰 honorable mention: one of the few times when enzo would praise her and degrade her in the same breath 🫦😮‍💨🥰 i just loved them together and the smut was 10/10 so that’s always a bonus 💗 what i’ve learned about HDC, since the cat and mouse duet, is that she knows EXACTLY how to write an asshole. at the same time, i just loved how much enzo cared about sawyer while also being possessive. he had the whole “no one can hurt her but me” going on and it was perfect
