About this deal

Bendable monitors are fairly new in the gaming world, but if you want to be an early adopter, the Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 has just made a solid case about needing them. This versatile gaming monitor lets you enjoy pretty much every game genre as they're meant to be visually enjoyed, thanks to its bendable panel that offers up to 800R of deep curvature. One of the original pitches for widescreen computer monitors was that they were useful for office and productivity use. The extra screen real estate made everything from reading PDFs to editing spreadsheets easier. Finally, glossy-surfaced screens can provide very bright, crisp colors, but they may also be too reflective for some users. If possible, compare a glossy screen to a matte screen before you buy to decide which works best for you. Do I Need High Dynamic Range (HDR)? The BenQ SW240 has a 24-inch IPS panel display with 1920×1200 WUXGA resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It’s brightness levels are low at 250nits, but the 1000:1 contrast ratio is enough to ensure that colors look vibrant on the screen. The only thing about it is that out of the box, we found it presenting a fairly flat and dimly lit display image even when HDR is enabled. Calibration is certainly necessary. We had to fiddle with its brightness, contrast settings, color controls and HDR settings a little bit, but when we did, the visual experience it offered was incredible.

And, to make it an even better proposition, it’s got some great features as well – namely, decent-sounding speakers and an interesting picture-in-picture functionality that will let you display two different computers in the same display. That’s pretty nifty and a great way to make up for the fact that there’s no USB-C connectivity. This model is a couple of years old at this point, but the past couple of years have been fairly slow for monitor developments, especially on the more mainstream and business-user side of things, so it can hold its own against the best business monitors out there. However, the new, larger 16:9 is simply like an enlargement of my old 16:10 canvas. More pixels, more screen, just bigger and better. You could literally mask off portions of my big screen to produce the old 16:10 - its display is contained within my new 16:9. Kowaliski, Cyril (2008-07-02). "DisplaySearch: Transition to 16:9 displays is 'unstoppable' ". The Tech Report . Retrieved 2012-07-09.

Our picks

The design of this monitor is simple. The build quality is decent. The stand is sturdy and you can use it to adjust the height of the monitor, tilt it, swivel it and also pivot it at 90 degrees. Terms Apply. Promotion ends 3 December 2023. Items are subject to availability. Max 5 units per customer. The monitor comes with a 100% sRGB color gamut and uses a 10-bit color depth that delivers 1.07 billion colors. The B247W also offers 300nits brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Despite these impressive numbers, it remains unsuitable for content creation. However, the color accuracy with Delta E<2 ensures you get lifelike color, making office presentations look great. The aspect ratio is the ratio in which the pixels are laid out on the screen. To be specific, it is the number of pixels laid out from left to right in relation to the pixels laid out from top to bottom. It has no bearing on the number of frames-per-second (or refresh rate) of a screen. What resolutions constitute the 16:10 aspect ratio?

If you mainly use your computer for office-related or productivity tasks, you might find it worthwhile to seek out a laptop or computer monitor with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Both a 16:9 and 16:10 monitor would offer the same basic benefits, but the 16:10 gets the edge for a few reasons. The primary reason for this move was considered to be production efficiency: [3] [7] Since display panels for TVs use the 16:9 aspect ratio, it became more efficient for display manufacturers to produce computer display panels in the same aspect ratio. [8] A 2008 report by DisplaySearch also cited several other reasons, including the ability for PC and monitor manufacturers to expand their product ranges by offering products with wider screens and higher resolutions. This helped consumers adopt such products more easily, "stimulating the growth of the notebook PC and LCD monitor market". [2] Introduction--Monitor Technology Guide". necdisplay.com. Note that the pixel density is almost identical between the two monitors, so the visual appearance of graphic elements looks identical between monitors (I still use two of the 24" as my side monitors).

Thankfully, HP offers HP Eye Ease to reduce blue light emissions and keep you working long hours by preventing eye strain without compromising the color accuracy of the monitor. Further, the ergonomically designed stand offers a full range of movement to get the best possible viewing angle without affecting your posture. Our Take Dell went so far as to ensure that the build quality and color reproduction are the best in the business as well. The monitor is factory calibrated, so it looks great without any tinkering, and that ultra-high resolution, along with the color handling of the monitor, makes any content look incredible – so incredible that sometimes, a footage almost looks 3D with the amount of detail you’re getting. The HDR400 support is alright, but nothing special, but when you factor in the excellent price for this kind of curved display, you get one of the best 4K monitors for gaming by value on the market. Just don't expect much from the built-in speakers here, they barely get the job done. Adaptive Sync allows the monitor to synchronize its refresh rate to the GPU’s frame rate. Doing this enhances image quality resulting in a sharper image. It reduces image tearing and motion blur so that you can enjoy high-quality video or superior gaming visuals with minimal distortions. The screen size is the critical parameter that decides how much screen real estate you get to display those spreadsheets and lines of text. Essentially, the choice is between a 30-inch, 24-inch, and 22-inch screen. The B247W has a 24-inch screen that uses an IPS panel that gives wide viewing angles of +/- 178 degrees. It offers a 1920×1200 WUXGA resolution and a 75Hz refresh rate. But the low-cost pricing means Acer doesn’t offer VRR, so you rely solely on the native 75Hz refresh rate to prevent any image distortion. Until then, if HDR matters to you, we recommend buying monitors only with an HDR 600 rating or above to give you an experience comparable to that of a modern HDR-rated TV. An HDR certification will always add to a monitor's MSRP, so unless you really want the feature and are ready to pay for a proper rating, that money could be better saved for upgrades to your PC or added features such as a higher refresh rate for a gaming display.
