Description

With a weight of just 1.3 kg (2.86 lbs) and tested payload of 4.5 kg (10 lbs), DJI RS 2 offers the an exceptional weight-to-payload ratio. These are also marked upgrades from DJI Ronin-S’s weight of 1.84 kg (4 lbs) and tested payload of a 3.6 kg (8 lbs). This results in a more comfortable shooting experience and the ability to handle bigger and more advanced setups. For professional filmmakers and content producers, this DJI RS 2 upgrade gives you opportunity to use your best setups on the go.

In General, you can choose between handheld and car mount, change the user profile and pause the motors. DJI has mitigated some of the pain in the balancing process by including bright white position scales on each of the adjustable bars for recording the perfect balancing positions of favored setups. With proper annotation, this process only needs to be performed once for each camera and lens combination. The offset roll axis motor on the Ronin-S sits below the camera at an angle rather than being directly behind the camera. This design makes it much easier to monitor the rear screen on a camera when shooting. Take the time to learn the setup process, especially the settings and modes and you will achieve some incredible results. Strength - DJI recommend leaving this setting as the default. The strength setting allows you to minimize attitude error by increasing the strength. The Ronin-S features a simple to use interface with only a few buttons and controls, keeping the operation straightforward and easy to use. Focus better on your subject with the easy-to-control Focus Wheel. When a compatible camera system connects to the Ronin-S, you can pull focus via the included cable. An optional external motor can also be added, bringing broader compatibility to all lens types while enhancing precision control. Innovative Design However, the ports aren’t water- or dust-proof, so you should ensure that the rubber covers are in place when shooting in inclement conditions. DJI Ronin-S – Handling and performance Due to its small size and impressive performance, the Ronin-S should appeal to a variety of users ranging from filmmakers to wedding videographers.

Reduced vibration/shaking when switching between 3D Roll 360 and normal mode. 3D Roll 360 is now disabled when the roll axis angle is larger than 180°. For those not accustomed to working with a stabilization system, the Ronin-S may initially appear daunting, but it can deliver professional looking camera moves with surprisingly little experience. I think most shooters who need this kind of solution for their work are going to look at it as a no-brainer compared to many other options, and with a bit of practice even beginners will be able to get great results. I think most shooters who need this kind of solution for their work are going to look at it as a no-brainer compared to many other options, and with a bit of practice even beginners will be able to get great results. These settings should only be changed once you know how to control them properly. Until this point, the settings chosen in tuning should provide the best results fpr your setup.Fully assembled Ronin-S including gimbal, handle (which houses the battery) and mini-tripod. The detachable tripod collapses to create an extended handle for two-handed support. It’s a fairly straightforward app on the surface, although dipping deeper into the settings reveals a wealth of options for determining the gimbal’s behaviour. Tweak a few settings and you can even make the gimbal endlessly roll as you move forward. Take a look at our sample video to see that in action. For content creators that would like a lighter and more travel-friendly gimbal stabilizer, Ronin-SC is an essential addition to their equipment. Perfect for vloggers and wedding videographers who shoot on the move, Ronin-SC emerges as a strong leader in the mirrorless camera gimbal market. For more DJI Support join us on With its strong motors and DJI’s always-impressive stabilisation algorithm, the Ronin-S does a fantastic job of keeping your camera stable. The exact speed with which the gimbal shifts the camera depends on your personal settings (input via the app), but suffice to say you can wave it around to an almost comical degree and still end up with stable, smooth footage.

You can hold the gimbal in three main ways: normal, flashlight and underslung. This provides for superb flexibility; it’s easy to hold it high, at waist level or very low to the ground. The relatively small size increases that further by allowing you to get it into positions two-handed gimbals couldn’t manage. Once your camera and accessories are mounted, you will have to balance your Ronin-S. Follow the below steps to ensure proper balancing. The gimbal is rated to support up to 3.6kg (7.9 lbs), nearly the same as the Ronin-M, and is capable of balancing fairly large zooms as well, including the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and the Sony E 18–200 mm F3.5–6.3 OSS LE.

Specifications

The front of the gimbal includes the trigger and USB charging port; the follow focus knob can be mounted on either side or removed completely. The base of the gimbal connects to the battery with a very solid lever. Something that doesn’t disappoint is battery life, which DJI claims lasts up to 12 hours per charge. That seems about right: in all our time with the Ronin-S, the battery never dipped below two of its four indicator bars. The battery charges via the handle’s USB-C port, and it takes around 2hrs 15mins for a full top-up. DJI Ronin-S – Companion app There are five buttons for the basic control of the Ronin-S. Some buttons will be similar to previous gimbals from the DJI Ronin and Osmo ranges. Considering its build quality , performance and features, the Ronin-S is the best ‘affordable’ 3-axis gimbal we’ve tried for cameras of this size.
