About this deal

Th Inspiron 15 3511 is perhaps one of the easiest budget laptops to service and upgrade. Performance-per-dollar is high, but you'll have to get over the less-than-stellar chassis design. This article provides help with Microsoft Office programs, A Guide to the various Microsoft Office programs available on your Dell PC. The Inspiron 15 3000 did fairly well here, coming out on top of its budget competition, while the Asus VivoBook 15 didn't even make the grade. Night Raid is the more modest of the two test workloads, suitable for laptops with integrated graphics. Time Spy, the more demanding of the two, would not run on any laptop in our comparison group. All other products will be delivered via the fastest available method (excluding bank holidays and weekends) and generally within 3-5 days, depending on customer location. Diagnostic Error Codes will always supersede any other use of the LED. For instance, on Notebooks, battery codes for Low Battery or Battery Failure situations will not be displayed when the Diagnostic Error Codes are being displayed.

Moreover, this laptop has two SO-DIMM slots that you can configure with up to 16GB of DDR4-2666 RAM. Similarly, you get 256GB/512GB of SSD. There is also a vacant 2.5″ SATA slot for storage expansion. The left side includes two USB 3.2 ports (Type-A), an HDMI 1.4 port, and the power-adapter connector. The next test on our list is Cinebench R23, the multi-core benchmark meant to exercise all of a processor's cores and threads. The Inspiron's Intel Core i3-1115G4 chip does well enough but is bested by the HP Laptop 14's Intel Core i3-1125G4. The Asus VivoBook 15 sat on the bench for this test, as Cinebench would not run on the hardware.

Dell's Inspiron 15 (3525) has decent battery life and a poor display, and it all just looks worse when facing the competition. Let’s look at the good news first. The Inspiron is happy to run for a while on its 41Wh battery, getting more than 9 hours on a charge in our testing. But all these other laptops were also happy to run for more than 9 hours. The IdeaPad can go over 10 hours, and the HP Laptop 17 hits over 11. These all pale in comparison to the ZenBook 13, which delivered a staggering 17 hours of runtime in our test. Try to flash the BIOS to the latest version. For more information, browse to Dell BIOS Updates (Refer to the How do I update BIOS using a USB flash drive? section). Typically, one of the first benchmark tests we run is UL's PCMark 10. The wide-ranging benchmark suite simulates a variety of Windows programs to give an overall performance score for office workflows and the like. Unfortunately, budget laptops normally don't have enough memory to run the tests properly, so we couldn't quantify performance for a comparison as we normally would. The Inspiron 15 3000 is what it says on the box. It's a budget-friendly laptop. It has a large, 15.6-inch display, a full number pad, and plenty of legacy ports. What surprised me about the Inspiron 15 3000 is how much it can get done despite its modest specs.Dell's Inspiron 15 (3525) is a peppy-enough and affordable-enough home or remote work machine, but it's not very ambitious; it does little to go beyond the basics. More the concern: It’s readily overshadowed by a number of machines that outperform and outclass it. Even if the Inspiron can get the job done today, its competition has the mettle to keep doing the job tomorrow in a way the Inspiron simply can’t promise. Plus, those alternatives are much more enjoyable after work. For every single one of these tests, the Inspiron falls behind the ZenBook 13 (UM325), thanks to the latter’s upgraded processor and extra memory. The same goes for the HP Pavilion Plus, which has a huge leg up, thanks to its powerful Core i7-12700H. The Inspiron 15 3000 also was the only laptop of the bunch that successfully ran GFXBench 5.0, another graphics stress test that runs low-level routines like texturing, and high-level tasks like game-like image rendering to gauge GPU performance. While the other budget laptops came up short, the Dell managed 15 frames per second (fps) during the 1440p Aztec Ruins test but more than doubled its frame rate during the 1080p Car Chase test. While not a gaming laptop by any means, the Dell might manage some undemanding games at 1080p at 30fps, as long as they're not too graphics-intensive. Disconnect all external peripherals including the keyboard, mouse, and external monitor. Peripherals also include external storage devices such as flash drives, USB devices, printers, cards etc.

Whether purchasing a single laptop or buying several in bulk, the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 is easy to recommend.First Group: The LED blinks with an Amber color 1 to 9 times, followed by a brief pause with the LED off for 1.5 seconds. Rounding out the productivity tests is the Geekbench benchmark, another CPU stress test meant to simulate real-world applications. The HP Laptop 14's processor helps it nab the top spot here, but the Dell still manages to best most of the competition. Disconnect all external peripherals including the keyboard, mouse, and external monitor. Peripherals also include external storage devices such as flash drives, USB devices, printers, cards, etc. With integrated graphics on all five of the laptops explored here, there’s really not much to get excited about. They all perform rather poorly in our tests, but the Inspiron 15 (3525) and HP Laptop 17—the two using a Ryzen 5 5625U with only 8GB to share with their integrated graphics—stand out as the worst contenders by far.
