About this deal

I think this is just a box which has been modded to fix the exhaust system Not sure if you can fix it without making new exhaust mounts. Will usually dispatch within same working day if paid before 13:00 GMT (excludes weekends and holidays). Yep as every body has said the very rear should have 2 of those rubber bobbins at the rear with preferably a metal bar bewteen the two that they hang from this metal bar then just screws directly to the subframe!

The very rear bobbin type mounting rubber on every mini made until the introduction of a rubber hanger strap in 1992. My arches were from Huddersfield too, I got the outer lip trim but nothing for sealing the join between body and arch. whilst a neat execution, the question in my mind is why are the majority of car exhausts suspended on rubber rather than having through bolts?

I'm not worried about the lack of centre support - with the cat fitted I've actually stood in it the centre (and I'm quite large! I used a nyloc nut and inserted the bolt from above so it wouldn't tend to fall out even if the nut came off. I'd worry that polyurethane wouldn't have enough 'give' in it and would strain the exhaust but the machine mount links look good.

If so, where did you get the rubber seal that's sandwiched between the arch and the body, and did it have to go on at the same time as the arch? Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). Ok ive found this as well not using the rubber bobbin setup that you have but uses the fixed set up for the rear mount! New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging .there should be two rubber bobbins on the rear mount of the exhaust and mid join looks like its just a threaded bar welded to the box. rubber silencer mounting, RGM carries them, I'm sure Norvil, Hemmings, Andover, Burtons Bits they're rather common. The imperial size may have been true at one point but many motor factors now supply these with a metric thread and nuts to suit (certainly Halfords does).

So on my sample of two - make sure you're not putting the bobbins under unnecessary loading for a good service life. At the engine end, there's a squiggly section of pipe to take it round the gear linkage box thing, but instead of running along the exhaust channel in the chassis, it kind of hangs underneath it, which is no good.I don't think there's much need to allow for linear vertical movement other than to provide some cushioning of shock loads causes by the inertia of the silencer over bumps etc. i got the arches from huddersfield spares, they recommended them to go with my 6x12 revs and the rubber strip came with them. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

I was very careful to realign, slot, file, bend, adjust all my mounts to take and stress out of the bobbins as far as possible - ie it looks when installed, nice and straight, not angled between top and bottom, not in shear.

These provide that little bit of extra flexibility that stops exhaust installation being such a pain-in-the-neck job.
