When it detects the rear camera is plugged in at power on then it asks where you would like the PiP to appear which is ok, but then it enters fault mode in displaying a yellow PiP frame with no content. Compared to designs from Thinkware and DDPai which hug the windscreen and don’t obstruct the sun visors, the 512GW is hard to hide away behind a rear view mirror – at least in a standard hatchback. The lens isn’t the best: there’s a fair amount of barrel distortion, but quality is the best we’ve seen from any rear camera.

Please select 'Mass Storage' on the Dash Cam screen and then OK so that only that displays on the screen. Unfortunately, this has a non-removable car cigarette light adapter at the other end, so you won’t easily be able to hook up the 512GW and a satnav to automotive power – unless your car has a USB connection and the satnav can make use of this. Best response from NB is "i will ask the development team and see if we are still working ona fix for this and a new firmware will be made to combat this issue" that was said on 17 July and nothing more has been heard. Not a major bug - but very irritating waste of 7 seconds when all you wanted to do was plug in and go. It doesn’t provide the ability to change camera settings, but it does let you get a live view, trigger record and download videos to your smartphone for sharing as well as viewing any videos already downloaded.
