Learning to put in the effort to intentionally learn about and consider the lived experiences of those who are different to you, is the first step towards avoiding unintentional harm and will help you on your anti-racism journey. Let's Talk About Race and Racism' is a College initiative intended to inspire new dialogues about race and racism, to learn from those dialogues, and create stronger communities in College, in the University, and beyond. Our student and staff toolkits offer know-how such as context, definitions, and issues at play, practical measures and tactics at hand that will help to develop a much needed anti-racist culture at UCL. It discusses race as well as superiority and the feelings involved with being put down based on race. Lester describes all people as a story, and emphasizes how we all have a different, unique beginning and elements throughout.

Through this online hub, we hope to provide a growing library of online self-education learning resources that can be used by an individual learner no matter where they are on their inclusion and anti-racism learning journey. It’s a subject that can be uncomfortable and sometimes divisive, as BBC presenter Naga Munchetty discovers when she travels across the country to understand what race and racism mean in the UK today. Lester's poignant picture book helps children learn, grow, discuss, and begin to create a future that resolves differences" (Children's Literature). Bratt’s personal experiences and recent events that inspired the Black Lives Matter movement provide a backdrop.

If enough of these stories are told, then perhaps we will begin to see that our lives are the same story.A new resource to help facilitate these difficult but necessary conversations is available this week.
