La relación entre Tessa y Hardin está ya tan quemada y tan vista en las anteriores entregas que en esta el lector se aburre con ellos. I can see Tessa going to New York and getting away from Hardin for a while to be independent and learn to be on her own a bit after some of the things he did to her. I could do without the eye rolling dialogue along the lines of “you are the only one who can save me”, “I can’t do this, but I can’t live without you” blah, blah, blah. After Ever Happy, told from dual POVs, is an all-consuming, addicting, at times angsty journey of self-discovery, testing boundaries, pushing limits and surrendering it all for love.

Just as Tessa built this calm and worked so hard to start over, she gets pulled under once more by life and its horrible trickery. After everything that went down at the end of the third book, Tessa is left markedly changed from the girl she was before.
