About this deal

Over the course of five mesmerising CDs, Unearthed shows us just how Johnny Cash's now-legendary handful of recordings for American Records came to be. The quality of these outtakes are just as good as the material that was originally released on the American Recording albums. The set was originally planned to celebrate Cash and Rubin's decade of recording together, and the final mixes had been sent to Cash, but he passed away before receiving them. Note: All tracks previously unreleased, except "Wichita Lineman" and "Big Iron" which were previously released on the original vinyl pressing of American IV: The Man Comes Around. The 9 Lp's are dirty with light blemish, light scuffs and they play all with a light background noise between tracks.

For example, there's an incredible version of The Devil's Right Hand, a song recorded by the Highwaymen in the mid-90s, but Cash's sparse version, accompanied only by an electric guitar, is by far the superior performance. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This set claims to have all unreleased recordings when Rubin took Cash under his wing (except disc 5 which is a compilation of the most known tracks from the A. The recordings, which run the stylistic gamut from stark balladry to punchy rockabilly to heartfelt gospel to classic covers, offer a stunning encapsulation of Cash's wide-ranging musical vision, and provide a fitting epitaph for his iconic career.

Several other songs, such as track 13, had been performed by Cash on TV or live in concert, but formal studio recordings had not yet been issued until now. Man hört viele B-Seiten der "American Anthology", viele Goodies wie alternative Takes und Neuinterpretationen von Klassikern. A solo version of "Like a Soldier", a version of "Drive On" featuring different lyrics, and an acoustic studio version of "Bird on a Wire" were issued on the 1994 album American Recordings.Father and Son" was previously recorded by Cash as "Father and Daughter" for his 1974 album The Junkie and the Juicehead Minus Me. Flesh and Blood" was previously recorded by Cash for the soundtrack to the 1970 film I Walk the Line.

The first three discs feature outtakes and alternate versions of songs recorded for American Recordings, American II: Unchained, American III: Solitary Man and American IV: The Man Comes Around. The set was originally planned to celebrate Cash and Rubin’s decade of recording together, but sadly Cash passed away before receiving the final mixes to approve. I've heard sets of outtakes before where people take an "it is what is is" attitude and you're just thankful to have a few extra tracks to listen to even if they aren't very good. The deluxe packaging includes a 104-page, cloth-bound book; never-before-seen photographs; and Cash's personal commentary on every song in the box. Also, maybe the light scuff may have been occured in the transport, the disc can move in the sleeve since it's not enough tight.
