Description

Footage of the game in its alpha state was posted to YouTube by Coffee Stain, where it received more than a million views in two days and a large response from fans requesting a full release of the game in part due to various glitches in the prototype's engine. Each DLC is a separate app for iOS and Android, and each one (except Goat Simulator: Payday) includes a mobile-exclusive map. PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions, also ported by Double Eleven, were released on 11 August 2015. The game received mixed reviews; some reviewers praised the title for providing a humorous sandbox interface to experiment with, while others criticized the game's reliance on social media to popularize what was otherwise a simple and buggy product.

The game features a scoring system similar to skateboarding games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, whereby doing tricks or other actions earns points, while chaining such tricks together in sequence helps build a multiplier that applies to the total score of the tricks done in the sequence.

The achievement list can be a help if you’re looking for things to do, but some are so obtuse that you’re better off trying to explore the world. The game’s core joke is difficult to criticize because humor is subjective; one man’s guffaw is another man’s blank stare. It has been compared to an old-school skating game, except instead of being a skater, you're a goat, and instead of doing tricks, you wreck stuff. An example **** that took Youtube by storm on the back of its own absurdity, Goat Simulator is an interesting look on what passes for entertainment. Not only does he have an incredibly long tongue that allows you to pick up and hurl objects, but there’s also a number of modifiers (mutators) that transform your goat and his skill set.

The game's intentional absurdity extends to its bugs, which often become part of the fun rather than detracting from it.It has been compared to an old-school skating game, except instead of being a skater, you’re a goat, and instead of doing tricks, you wreck stuff. There's nothing else to the game save for a few modifiers, although I expect the modding scene to spice it up slightly more, but with the same results. Another expansion, "Waste of Space", was again developed by Gone North Games and released on 26 May 2016. Dan Stapleton of IGN considered the title a "clever interactive spoof of all the broken game physics we’ve seen in open worlds" and despite being short, was a "hell of a good time". Collectibles litter the map (including a handful you need for achievements) and some of them would be challenging to acquire in a superior title.
