Nephele and Joran’s dynamic reminded me a little bit of Carver and Bellanca’s in the Kingmaker Chronicle series ( A Promise of Fire). More importantly, the inclusionary world where we have a FMC who is non-speaking and uses sign language to communicate and create magick. My initial thoughts are that it was a little too long, and it could have been cut down by like ~75 pages, but the cliffhanger was AMAZING! If I were giving this book a professional review, it would assuredly rate considerably higher, as it is a very well written story.
I love Colden, but I found him too passive for a prisoner, and he lost this mysterious and intriguing quality he had in the first book.
