About this deal

We'd love to run a full report on every product possible, but we had to make a few compromises to get you the preliminary version in under a minute. If you've ever experienced this, it's disappointing, and it's usually accompanied by cappuccino foam too, as staff who've not been shown how to use a steam wand properly, usually instinctively make thick bubbled cappuccino foam.

If you've used a standard sharp spout in the past, the spout on these are a bit different, but I really like them. We've tested popular milk frothers, including Hotel Chocolat's Velvetiser and electric milk frothers from Dualit, Lavazza, Smeg, Swan and more. Do not redistribute any products before they have arrived with you as inventory may vary and/or items might need repairs.

It will heat up to 350ml of milk at a time, or froth 160ml if you’re aiming for a sumptuous macchiato, getting the job done in about two minutes. The best milk frother gives you barista-style coffee quickly with voluminous, creamy froth – and some can even make an indulgent, velvety hot chocolate.

For our list, we've chosen handheld electric milk frothers, which work like a vortex to inject air into the milk. When and where baristas started producing the microfoam that flat whites are known for, though, I've no idea, it depends on who you ask, but flat white is about 1: intensity (vs that of latte and cappuccino) and 2: milk texture – which is silky, velvety “microfoam” milk texture. The first kind of milk foam created was what we know as cappuccino foam, big bubbled foam, and what many people don't realize is that this was first created to mimic the whipped cream in the Viennese Kapuziner Kaffee. As the consistency of each is similar to cow's milk, especially pea and hemp with high protein, they have very similar fab frothy qualities. Macchiato means “stained”, and it's thought that this spot or “stain” of milk was used as a way to simply highlight to busy baristas which were straight espressos and which were espressos with a spot (stain) of milk.We compiled a list of fans they recommended, noting how effective they found them, and whether they were particularly good for any certain needs.

They recently released a pro version, via a crowd funding campaign, this heats the milk too, I've got that and I'll be reviewing it properly very soon, but in a nutshell that works really well too, there are a couple of things I think they've got wrong with it, things I'd prefer, but it does a very good job of creating great microfoam.According to RAVE, the coffee subscription service, pea, hemp and soy milk are great alternatives that can be frothed well in coffees. And, as you also mention under flat white section, some times we need to make microfoam, would you know whether any of these devices is good for that? This milk frother has four settings to choose from to create the perfect consistency for cappuccinos, lattes, hot milk, hot chocolates and flat whites. We also tested those milk frothers that can make hot chocolate to see which makes the best, including the widely promoted Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser.
