About this deal

I then found that the air being discharged from the top of the machine (it has to expel somewhere), was blowing away what I was trying to suck up meaning I had to be extremely precise in the path (and angle) I was trying to vacuum. I recently bought the Flymo 2700 garden vac, primarily for vacuuming lawn clippings from around our pool. They got back to me very quickly and reckoned the bag problem may have been caused by incorrect packaging.

Inspect the motor and internal components: If the motor brushes are in good condition, you may need to inspect the motor and other internal components for damage or wear. The collection bag is the same design as the original but the original, which is a bit battered these days, feels a more substantial affair but we, or at least my heirs, can judge that more accurately around 2060 or so. The purpose of my purchase wasn’t to ‘blow’ but to suck up the dropped dropped petals from my Wysteria. Alternatively, remove the shredding blades and it will simply vacuum debris up – so it can be used to suck up larger debris than just leaves.

The machine is also quite big and bulky in storage but the strap can be used to hang it up, which is helpful. This garden vac's great strength is that the debris one collects does not go through any form of suction impeller. I had an original GardenVac which worked very well, - until it fell over and smashed the case beyond repair. We found the assembly of the bag a little difficult as a crease in fold kept the bag popping out of the lip but once smoothed out it all went together more easily.

We bought the Flymo Garden Vac 2700 because it was the closest we could find to our previous Flymo leaf vac which finally gave up the ghost after many years great service. Bought the other Flymo model which was a little better, but clogged up regularly had required cleaning out frequently, packed up after two winters and I did not want to even try to fix it, I paid the extra for what I feel is the best vac available and I am not disappointed.Too many of the models available these days are just blowers which I don’t want – I have never understood the logic of blowing leaves on to the pavement or into the road – and machines that do also have a vacuum function are usually not that powerful when it comes to sucking. Useful in small to medium gardens with lots of leaves and a range of debris to collect for the compost heap. The GardenVac worked on a “venturi air mover” principle, whereas the Sirocco just uses a fast axial fan to move the air. It is fairly heavy to use so the optional extra of a Flymo wheel that clips on the end might be useful to take some of the strain. It is also worth remembering that this was originally designed as a garden vac, not a leaf or snow blower, the blower feature just there to aid the vacuuming and, from memory, it was the first on the market.
