Description

Measure out and mark your holes, carefully drill through the the plaster with an 8mm pointed wood drill (this is sacrificial and will wear down over time). My wife took no time at all filling the cupboards with tins of food and anything else she could find and these have anchored the cupboards so well I'm impressed . Because these fixings have been especially designed to provide a secure fixing into exactly these types of internal walls. If you are dealing with a plasterboard dot and dab wall, wall then you will have no problems at all in fixing your flat screen TV to the wall using the Corefix product (and providing you follow the instructions of course.

Corefix prevents this issue by transferring the load directly to the solid masonry by way of the steel insert. The recommended safe load of 100kg (4 x fixings) includes a conservative Factor of Safety (see datasheet for further details).

Corefix – unlike other typical rawl plug based fixings – will bridge the gap between the plasterboard and the solid wall behind it. I've used appropriate lengths of 15mm copper pipe or, for heavier loads such as large radiators, slices of a broom handle (with a hole drilled through the centre) to do this and it works perfectly fine. Push the plug in to check if fits, you can used a screw to pull it out if you need to do further drilling to achieve the right depth.

They are fitted like a standard brick wall fixing, but the metal bridge piece solves the dot and dab problem. Corefix has been independently tested with lightweight concrete blocks and has shown excellent tensile and sheer values. I used the Corefix fittings while mounting a uni-strut to support a low loss header and I was impressed. The screw is 100mm long and 5mm across the maximum diameter of the threads with the head maximum diameter being 10mm.

Tap the steel core home until flush with the plug, then install your bracket using the supplied screw. This is going to depend on the type of plasterboard wall you are dealing with and the quality of the plasterboard fixings to be used. Just to add, if you’re nervous about the Thermalite blocks and want to avoid drilling into them, have a look at Gee Fix fixings. Corefix has been independently tested to handle a loading of 100* kgs but our own in-house tests show that Corefix will securely support a staggering 250* kgs.

This highly effective and innovative product was developed to safely secure heavy loads including cabinets and brackets to dot and dab plasterboard walls or board supported on battens. and I’d worry in the event of a child pulling/wobbling event, and play in the fixing may slowly bring it loose.
