An interesting side note here…if you are pushed off and left behind, but you were healthy, you can reveal that fact and the person who pushed you dies of shame and also gets to sit out the rest of the game with you. Just FYI: the new aspects to Zoo Vadis (unique powers and peacocks) were added in (bolted on) by the good doctor himself. Like Paul above, I wasn’t a fan of Tortuga either but as a Bristolian of 15 years I’m hoping for a better experience from this one. This, combined with the terrific art and graphic design, makes the game something you can be proud to display.As social distancing eventually evaporates and groups of any size can finally gather together once more, Bristol 1350 will frequently hit our table and have us eager to retread its infectious fun. Shuffle the remedy cards and give each player a number specified in the setup table in the instructions. Yeah, you can lose arms and legs, there are spinning floor blades and pit traps, lootable containers on the board.

These obvious villains serve as the decoys while their cursed comrades sneak their way into the trusted company of the healthy humans. So you see at some point, your strategy will switch from trying to stay healthy and get out of town, to infecting as many people as possible so you win because no healthy tokens made it out. I wonder if you played 2 or 3 rounds, awarding slightly more points for a Healthy win, if that would tweak the incentives just a bit.Highly group dependent, and deeply enhanced by higher player counts, the essence of this offering is engaging on a level that similar titles routinely fail to vault.

The whole packaging conceit is lovely though, it has me tempted to complete the set-especially if they're as well realised as this one. But before the pandemic, I only had one monthly group that would be interested in social deduction games, and the hosts had their first kid last year.The instruction booklet is beautifully illustrated by Sarah Keele, and is competently written, explaining the rules well enough that I had no trouble trying the game (and solo! If you’re like me, then you heard it many a time after saving the Lylat System from the schemes of Andross.
