Does the book contain anything that teachers would wish to know about before recommending in class (strong language, sensitive topics etc. After seducing the wife of one member in a fruitless attempt to learn their new activities, he discovers that riots have broken out in Harlem due to widespread unrest. The narrator, an unnamed black man, begins by describing his living conditions: an underground room wired with hundreds of electric lights, operated by power stolen from the city's electric grid. It was this idea of "playing the field", so to speak, not being "all-in", that led to some of Ellison's more staunch critics. For me things started a little slowly, but I wasn’t far in when things began to ramp up, and it didn’t stop until the very last page.

Not even her ex-fiancée and former FBI field investigator, “Books” Bookman wants to hear about the case from her. Wells seems to show some awareness of this problem in Chapter 20, where the eyes of an otherwise invisible cat retain visible retinas.

As she walks about Isabel realises she is ignored by people, and feels she is literally fading away. Several times I found myself wanting to yell at her as if she were real to grow up, which is something I cannot ever doing before when reading a Patterson book. The book was shortlisted in the 2013 Artists’ Books of the Moment Award, Art Gallery of York University, Canada. Unprotected and unloved, she learns that the only way to feel safe is to draw as little attention as possible, to be invisible.

Isabel is a small girl who lives with her family, and though they have little they have each other, so life is happy. When he describes something in print, believe him; believe him even when he describes the process of art in terms of baseball or boxing; he’s been there.Soon, though, he encounters trouble from Ras the Exhorter, a fanatical black nationalist who believes that the Brotherhood is controlled by whites. Despite Griffin's murderous actions, Kemp urges the mob to stand away and tries to save his life, though unsuccessfully.
