About this deal

He justifies his pathetic and disgusting behaviour by saying it's because he likes her (this is a VERY bad sign). Another review queried why it was that a heroine like Becca is actually likeable since she is entirely dense for most of the book. Ryan was a freaking saint for putting up with this heroine, it was a little painful to watch Becca's reactions to him time and time again. I read this script during the development stage, and I encourage you to look at this piece, especially if you're looking for an all-female cast and realize that most theatre ticket purchasers are women. Meaning he gets drunk, dates a random girl and uses her, humiliates Becca and picks on her like a child, gets super mad at her for trivial stuff and SCREAMS at her.

You need to treat people the way you want to be treated, and considering she treated everyone badly, it's no wonder the only person she worshiped would cheat on her. Then on top of that she was so dumb and clueless it was a shocker that she was only flunking English and science because everyone knew that Ryan liked her and she couldn't figure it out. I loved everything about it, except for how clueless the heroine was at times but that be overlooked.

My favourite type of books that I look out for normally involves: Love/Hate, Childhood Friends, High School/College Romance, and plenty of ANGST! As I read the book I was mindful of this and I realised why she is in fact lovable, despite her stubborn blindness. The female MC Becca McKenzie has been treated like crap by her former neighbor and best friend Ryan since the start of school when they were twelve. She was quite happy in her own little world, completely oblivious to EVERYTHING that was going on around her.

She DOES NOT back down and gives Ryan - and anyone else that happens to be on his side - absolute hell.

I love enemies to lovers stories and this one was real and gritty and best of all, it had flawed characters. This would have been amazing if fucking Becca (yes that's her official name now fight me) hadn't spent 80% of the book EIGHTY FUCKING PERCENT mooning over her dickbag boyfriend. diss him for Charlie who by the way was full of shit and one horrible guy… but it was funny how she didn’t pay Ryan any mind or wanted to be around him… To the point he will be upset and get mad at her…. There are more reasons I really hated BECCA but it's exhausting me right now to relive her general clueless/problematic ass. Like I said, I am a huge angst junkie, I need to feel the connection, and a few times in this book, I really got the feels.

The story is mostly told in Becca’s POV, but we get Ryan’s POV for the epilogue and see his side of the misunderstanding. Three quarters of the way through, it was so obvious that he was in love with her, and yet she still believed it was all a set up. But I was glad in the end that Rebecca got over Charlie when they broke up because for one I knew he was cheating on her.
