About this deal

The DT-880 is rated as semi-open but their performance is very similar to fully open-back headphones, and therefore don't isolate well. The track is for valley, the echo noises add depth to the sound, in addition at the top of the sound stage is… what sounds like wind. These are tough, well-built, inexpensive and great sounding fully professional headphones from the world's leading maker of professional headphones.

Its mostly built out of steel, the only plastic parts on this headphone would be the housing around the earcups, and the hinges above the arms connected to the ear cups. The HD25's were still very nice sounding, very clean, i think they convey what's really there nicely. Value aside, if you had to pry one away from me now (880 or 600), I would have to let the DT 880 go. The padded headband is simple but great for long listening - I never once felt it was touching my head (unlike the lumpy one found on the AKG Q/K701). The DT880 has never been a bass-monster; this headphone is not well suited for bass-heavy music like dub, hip-hop, and reggae. If so, at 1 volt, this would be 111 dB for the 32 Ω version, 102 dB for the 250 Ω version and 98 dB for the 600 Ω version. So this 600ohm DT880 seemed like a great choice to give those powered headphone amplifiers a proper work-out.

Beyerdynamics new 'Tesla' range doesn't offer impedance values above 250ohms (accept with their flagship model, where 600ohms is the only option). size=small] The Beyerdynamic DT880 sound can be classified as being treble oriented with slightly recessed mids (will get tot hat later) and having slow or muddy bass (will get to that as well). Most people will know that neutral headphones are great for creating music, expect these headphones to suits this kind of music well, so let me use this example to say how versatile these headphones are.I do wear glasses and can experience pressure on the top of the ears sometimes, but this was never an issue with the DT 880. Over the following eight years I moved through the manufacturers and ranges, expanding my passion as I went . Because of the bass and mids the details (especially in the highs) were not as present as with the other headphones. Part of the driving force behind the beautifully rendered detail is a strong treble presentation (apparently less so on this higher impedance model). I also noticed premium versions have a coated headbands, where as the Pro has a black painting, which is relatively of lower quality and peels off.

The Sennheiser sound a bit dull in comparison, but their sound profile is better-balanced overall, with more bass and less emphasis on sibilants like sharp "S" and "T" sounds. The vocals are very up-front in this track and sound beautifully clear, but it makes a lot of the background instruments feel overpowered.

The DT880 Pro 250 ohm is a semi-open circumaural head-phone which Beyerdynamic market for monitoring. I suspect this amp would do wonders on any high impedance headphone with a "dark" or "veiled" sound signature like most Sennheisers. Sound Signature- Very clean, a slight tilt towards the upper mids and treble, although the headphone features a lower mid resonance which adds a nice touch of body to the lower mids and upper bass. The actual impedance of the 600 Ω version is about 660 Ω, but more importantly, it's almost purely resistive. This is definitely not a headphone for bass-heads, but neither is it th e most lean bass presentation that I've heard.
