About this deal

Not based upon any direct knowledge, just on how I walked up to a door looking OK and walked away to one with colour washed out of it. Unfortunately, composite doors, like any other doors or painted products, do fade in the sunlight over time. Getting something totally free is likely to get a true MoneySaver's heart pumping faster than any cardio workout ever could. Of course, once you paint you cannot stop; it'll now become a regular - but hopefully not too common - part of your house maintenance. Other available products may make your door look bright and shiny, but as the oil does not have the same saturating ability of Polytrol, it will only last for a very short period of time and your door will soon be looking like it did before.

Polytrol dries to a tough and long-lasting flexible finish which does not leave a film – so it won’t peel or flake. We don't as a general policy investigate the solvency of companies mentioned (how likely they are to go bust), but there is a risk any company can struggle and it's rarely made public until it's too late (see the Section 75 guide for protection tips). Without this additional care, your wooden door could be prone to rotting or even warping out of shape. We supply market-leading doors from Comp Door, which is our preferred supplier, with the best range of doors available we can find on the market. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. My son used this product on his garage door with what i can best described as remarkable results - looks better than new. While re-vamping the room it was decided to keep these rather than replace, but they had become faded over the years. Fortunately, though, there is some good news: modern composite doors take significantly longer to fade than timber doors. Then tried on our front door which is a composite, again brilliant especially as the door was faded in the sunlight .

My garage door was very faded and dull and after one thin coat, it looks like new – many people have stopped and asked where I’ve got my ‘new’ garage door from. Composite doors have definitely made a name for themselves in recent years due to their longevity and multiple styles, as well as cost-effectiveness. The product, Owatrol Polytrol was recommended for restoring some colour to some red plastic bathroom ware, in particular a bathroom cabinet and brush holder. i have noticed quite a lot fade after a while and the letterbox surface flake off(chrome effect)even if i just use a damp scrim to clean them. I was going to suggest the Bedec MSP too after seeing a thread on the Screwfix forum from someone who's done just this on their, I think, PVC door.My own front door is a lovely sage green composite door which was quite a significant cost at the time. I've heard nothing but good stuff about Bedec paints in general, so understand they are a well regarded brand. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). I have previously used a mix of boiled linseed oil and standard paint thinners mixed 50/50 and it worked just the same as this product as a matter of fact the product just smells of linseed oil. Polytrol is now available in a handy 250ml spray can, great for quick application and difficult to reach areas.

In fact, all that you will need to clean composite doors is a bucket of warm soapy water and clean with a dry soft cloth and a sponge. If your substrate is particularly badly damaged and the piogmentation has faded to such a point that it is not recoverable then it is possible that Polytrol will not be able to recover it. I like the look of the original door, can i be cheeky and ask where you bought it from, and how much it cost?Bought this to revive the bumpers on my vw transporter, I have used lots of products that say they bring them back as new but none of them lasted for more than a month !

Does anyone have any experience with painting their composite door and does anyone have any advice/tips please? The effectiveness will depend upon the deterioration of the product, especially on stained doors where the lacquer coat has been removed. Once done, you can dry the entire door with a clean, dry cloth and stand back and admire your handy work. After previously spending hours on end of waxing previously, the boat never looked really shiny and was always left a bit chalky no matter what wax we used.

We always recommend purchasing a sample to treat first which it seems that you have done, we are sorry that it hasn’t worked for you on this occasion. Unfortunately I don’t have any before or after pics of it because I didn’t realise at the time how much of a difference it would make!
