Die Stadt selbst ist dafür bekannt, dass über die Jahre schwarze Menschen spurlos verschwunden sind, was die ganze Sache nicht besser macht. A medical droid attends to the wounded Jord, who has broken his left arm. Thall advises Jord to rest but Jord is disappointed. Kea turns their attention to repairing the damaged White Witch or they will be disqualified. C-3PO objects to R2-D2's idea of hiring Proto One, whom he dismisses as a "walking scrap heap." Jord is open to hiring Proto-One but C-3PO reveals that he has found another droid to help them named BL-17, saying that he found him. Anyway, it's a good read, and a book every athlete should read, especially young ones and their parents.

As much as I really wanted to enjoy this book (well, as much as you can “enjoy” a book on such a serious topic), unfortunately it didn’t quite deliver for me. (Please don’t read further – or just skip to the last paragraph of this review – if you don’t want to read my negative thoughts on this book! There will also be some spoilers in the following paragraphs.) I hated when he retired from racing. I miss that guy. I miss the days of the beautiful #8 Budweiser car. I miss the #88 too, but that red car was special. I always thought I was a NASCAR fan. I was wrong. Turns out I was a Junior fan. I've watched parts of races since he's retired, but haven't finished watching one yet. Not even Daytona, or my favorite, Talladega. For example: When the gang decide to break into Liam's apartment. It seemed to jump to this scene rather suddenly, which would have been fine with a little more context. Liam was the only character I felt needed a little bit more work. He appeared to be a threat for so long, but then it turns out he's an undercover cop investigating this town. Which was a good twist! But I was waiting for him to turn on them again, because he was so sketchy throughout the rest of the book.If you're not a race driver, stay the hell home. Don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Get the hell out of the race car if you've got feathers on your legs or butt. Put a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat that candy ass.” On the other hand, it is great to see a story like this, featuring such an unusual idea and storyline. Even better when the spunky and wilful MC also happens to wear a hijab! I look forward to seeing what the author comes up with next, because despite some shortcomings, this is certainly a promising start to her writing career. I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for effort and originality.

Dale Jr. was under tremendous (often self-applied) pressure to hide his symptoms, even when he could barely stand up or see straight. He was that afraid of losing his ride (his Nascar racing spot). Now imagine how a racecar driver not named Earnhardt must feel. Or some regular schlub in local races. Or a high school kid playing football or soccer. This isn’t a book specifically about Dale Jr and his racing career. It’s part of it. But this one focused on his struggle with concussion symptoms. Nachdem Aaleyahs Familie für ein Jahr in die Kleinstadt „Anderton“ zieht, beginnt für sie ein einziger Alptraum.

We have here the makings of a riveting plot, but the execution leaves something to be desired. It is partly the age of the writer that is likely to be responsible for the degree of telling versus showing on display. The character development is also somewhat uneven, with the female MC not just taking centre stage, but almost taking up the entire stage, at the expense of other characters.

But what is unexpected is the degree of racism that she experiences at her new school. It is not only the students but also the teachers who could not care less about the toxic environment. Why did we have to guess the ethnicity of Alyeah’s friends? I can only assume that they were Latinx and Asian American but could never fully confirm that in the book.

F1 Bodywork

I found it funny that in a place where we were supposed to be educated was the place I saw the most ignorance. The irony.”

The Boonta Race involves the participants racing through several transparent tunnels. Boba Fett attempts to use grappling hooks to slow the White Witch down but R2-D2 uses his welder to cut them free. The racers race for ten laps as the Fromms watch. At the seventh lap, Fett damages one of the White Witch 's engines. Kea and C-3PO later find Jord and warn him of the danger facing Thall. I get the many points that the author was intending to convey. The plot was amazing, but poorly developed. The writing was underwhelming. No matter how much I read, I never really cared about the "mystery" and undercover operations. Aaleyah ist wie bereits erwähnt, eine unglaublich mutige Person. Manchmal wurde ihr Mut meiner Meinung nach aber zum Leichtsinn. I think this novel is extremely important in educating not just athletes or sports fans, but everyone, and sharing the discourse on concussions and brain injuries will open the conversation more and help and impact a lot of people. While traveling through space, R2-D2 eavesdrops on Thall, Jord, and Kea over the intercom. Taking the job would require C-3PO and R2-D2 to be reprogrammed, which Thall, Jord and Kea object to. Upon hearing this, R2-D2 and C-3PO decide that it is time to part ways with their friends, because it will enable the humans to take the job and allow the droids to keep their memories intact for the time being. The droids enter an escape pod and eject it into space as the Sand Sloth jumps into lightspeed. C-3PO and R2-D2 decide to sacrifice their companionship for their friends' well-being.
